Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)

I was +2 thru 17 - until a pulled drive on 18 resulted in my poor recovery, and ending +6 on the daily.

Really fun though - my distance is really getting there and I'm striking the irons a lot better. Putting was fine, but it was the approach shots that are going to need to be more dialed in and not just selecting the designated club the CPU gives me.

Looking forward to starting the 4 rounder today!

Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)

Guess I've got to come here and eat my words. Decided to give the daily a shot again even though I have spoken out against "no grid" and am kinda embarrassed to now admit that I like having "no grid". Maybe I just gave up on my round the other day but this time out I didn't miss a beat. I did watch those tip videos link to in the first post so, maybe that made something click in my head.

I took a little more time on the greens and used all the info provided (like the slope and above/below feet info) and actually putt just as good/bad as I had been doing with the grid on. Ended up shooting +1 for the daily which is my best finish yet. I was actually at -1 with 3 holes to play totally ruined a tee shot and 2nd shot on 16. Somehow managed to bogey that hole but then turned around and missed a short par putt on 17 because I was trying to move to fast and didn't pay attention. I then made a long 17 foot putt on 18 to save par and finish at +1. Anyway, I've got no problem with the grid remaining off now, I've converted!

Question for those who have lvl 60+ CAGs. Are any of you using a control golfer and if so, when did you start to hit pro length tee shots in the 270-290 range (looking at PGA Tour stats, most pros seem to fall somewhere in that range)? My golfer is lvl 38 right now and I have both power and accuracy maxed out at 60 (that's were it is caped right now) and my driver still only has a distance of 247 yds. Just for fun I switched my golfer to a power swing and went to the practice range and my distance jumped to 271 yds. My first thought was nice, then I start hitting balls and quickly realized that I missed the added accuracy of the control swing. Went and played a few holes on a course to confirm my thoughts and yes, definitely like the accuracy of the control swing more then the added power.

My only real issue is that I still have a some par 4s that I can't reach in 2 and there was one hole at Valhalla that I couldn't even reach the fairway (17 or 18 I believe). Just wandering when control CAGs get to realistic pro level distances? I'm not wanting to bomb it 310 yds but, 270-280 would be nice.

Rolltide my golfer is a level 94 and I only avg around 270-285 off the tee. I have a control/fade golfer. I just take a nice easy swing and don't try to kill it because when I do I generally end up in the rough and the Bogey gods are awaiting me on the green.

For putting I try to take as much break out of it as possible and by that I place the putting cursor a good 3-5/6ft past the hole. On the longer putts I'm looking just to lag it up close. Par is still good and I try to capitalize on the Par 5's and don't get so much caught up into getting on the green on 2. I'd rather be there in 3 and be within 10 ft than on in 2 and putting uphill from 50 ft

You will unlock lot better clubs when you level up so just keep playing. Speaking of distance, I just realized today that it's sometimes useful to hit with driver from fairway when you cannot reach the green with spoon. Works only when there's an opening to the green though...

Does anyone else try not to assign attribute points in between rounds of the weekly tournaments? I do this method myself. I like to see what my final score is after the rounds with unaltered attributes. Call me crazy, just something I'm doing while in these CC tournaments.

I'd be fine with 270-285, didn't realize it would take a control golfer that long to get there though. Guess I just need to play more and stop watching TV.

I'd be interested in hearing about the clubs some of you have chosen (brand and what you place in your bag). Right now I'm using the Masters branded clubs because they are the best available of the ones I've unlocked so far (as far as I can tell). I haven't messed with my default clubs in the bag yet but, I'm thinking of switching out my 3W for another hybrid or long iron, I also seem to have more wedges then I really need and will probably switch some around.

What is considered the best set of clubs in the game, I just haven't really looked through the inventory much yet?

Do the shafts really make much of a difference in the game? I'm currently using a flex because it says it adds +3 power and my swing speed always says slow no matter how fast I move the stick.

I tell ya what, this is the best TW game ever, even before the patch. Guess I can finally lay to rest my memory of Links 2004.

They do a good job of letting you browse while showing the clubs attributes and the +/- difference without having to look at your current clubs.

I ditched my 52° for 3 iron and would never have it any other way.

As I struggled early on, I considered the Master's clubs but decided to stick it out with the best of the other clubs as I progressed, and I'm glad I did. I just felt the Master's clubs were a bit of a cheat as they are so mega-good compared to the others. Just how I felt about it, I certainly wouldn't begrudge anyone else using them.

I don't understand how these daily tournaments for the CC work. When I played the first time today it said I have 2 turns to play. I shot a -3 the first round and then played again and shot -6 but the -6 couldn't post because it said I had used up all of my turns.

                    I don't understand.

Unless i'm mistaken, The rules of this league say you can't play the round twice. Therefore, you shouldn't be playing the round over.

I'm not sure why you aren't able to post the score though, but i'm glad that's the case.

The 2 tries are just in case you got a disconnect during your first try, I believe. You are just supposed to play the round 1 time and take your score, good or bad. You don't have 2 chances and then pick your best score. Once you click submit your scorecard for the round, that is it.

Basically the 2 tries is so you are no penalized if you lose connection during your first try. It's basically the honor system, shoot your score and turn it in. You only get one try.

I wouldn't think it would let me even play the round again if I couldn't post the score. Oh well. I like the only 1 turn anyway.

-1 in today's daily tournament. A lot of missed opportunities on my part. Kept me frustrated as well as humble. The wind must not have been that bad as it didn't play much of a factor into my round. Just gotta keep on practicing I guess

Man, I missed so many putt opportunities today. Finished +6, but I think I should've been maybe +2 or +3. Not a terribly difficult course today, hopefully I can putt a little better next time out.

So basically in the CC we have a daily tourney and also a weekly 4 round tourney? Is that about the gist of the whole thing? Anything else we can do in it?
