After tweaking some settings with my golfer and myself getting a little more consistent with my swing I posted a -2 for the first round of our weekly event. I needed to take a break from the pressures so I went back and got on my offline career. First round I posted a -2 and was five shots off the leader. 2nd round of the Waste Management tourney I birdied 6 of 9 holes on the front to take the outright lead. Got on the back 9 and started messing up. So after two rounds I'm now back in fourth, 3 shots off the lead.

Too bad you cant play people in a skins game for Xbox points... that would be dope, but it would never happen.

I disagree, one of the reasons I was able to shoot so low at Kaiwah is because I knew how much the wind was going to effect my shot. Most of my approach shots were within 15ft or less of the hole.

You have to take into account the type of swing you are doing. If you are a draw golfer (right hand) and the wind is blowing left to right, the ball movement is going to be exaggerated because it is also moving left to right. Just the opposite for a fade golfer.

The accuracy of you swing has a big influence as well. Take the same draw golfer with the same right to left wind and miss hit the ball a little to the left of you swing meter line and the wind will have even more of an effect. If the wind is blowing left to right it may actually help to straighten out the same miss hit and would appear to not effect the ball as much.

Once your accuracy attribute is built up and you start hitting more accurate shots, the wind becomes very predictable.

Ive noticed now that my accuracy is somewhat decent that the wind isn't that big of a deal. I'm a draw shooter and with knowing that I know what I can and cant get away with when it comes to my drives. Also, if my swing is off, 9 out of 10 times its me being just a tad bit to the left of my hit meter which is not as bad as me being off to the right. Ive just found that the wind plenty of times actually saves my drives from going off the fairway.

When it comes to my iron play though, it seems the wind is less forgiving probably because there is more lift and less velocity on the ball. I need to do a better job of choosing the right club though based off of my elevation to the green. I hate when I feel like I hit the perfect 150yard shot and it looks like its heading straight for the hole, only to wind up so short that it's not even on the green.

You just need to go online in your TW game on your Xbox and look up the OS Bushwood country club. I think you can petition from there to get in. It's all nice and automated now

Not sure what we can do about the EA drops, but I have found that when they decide to throw up an overlay where I cant see what I'm doing, if you just press start and pause the game, then un-pause it, it goes away. I usually have to do this about twice a round. Not THAT big of a deal but yeah, lets get a patch for this or something. I'm always looking for the X button to close it out and it's not there. So just pause and unpause for now I guess.

Yep that's what I do..just hit the back button is what I do. Agree it's not a huge deal but whoever decided to have the overlays come up there needs a poke in the eye.

Oh dam, that sucks. Oh well IM IN! To be honest though, the guys here at OS are the only reason why I get longevity out of my sports titles. One can only play games like TW and Madden in a silo for so long. Being in a CC where you know other people (at least virtually) makes TW14 way different and better than the days when I would just buy the game and play offline in a career and that's that.

Last year I bought TW, didnt get into any CC's or nothing like Bighoff is doing for us here and I swear I played the game maybe about 12 hours total time, then it sat and collected dust and eventually became a trade-in casualty. With this year, and being in this country club, I'm seriously trying to find ways to dip out of work early just to go home and play

Also this is the first year that I've played at TW game with settings that made me actually use skill and my brains. When I make a 300 yard drive that actually stays on the fairway I feel like I accomplished something. When I get on a roll only to find the 12th and 15th hole at Augusta stabbing me in my eye with a +2 on both holes I welcome that as well. For the first time in a long time for me at least TW feels like real golf, and being in the CC helps that a lot.

I still wish on Xbox Live you could do like an entry fee for Xbox live points. Like to get in the CC it costs 100 points then at the end of the FedEx cup there was a payout based on how you placed....

I know, I'm dreaming lol.

You know I know some people due to adult responsibilities might miss a couple of tourneys this season. But I think as people's skill level improves it might not be THAT big of a factor in Fed Ex Cup standings. What I mean is, look at someone like Kodiak here, who might be the TW of our CC... if due to an emergency or something he missed a tourney, it might not have that big of an effect on his standings because he could come back and win the next two tourney's he's in or place high. This is one of the main reasons why I'm trying to really hone my skills so if I miss a tourney or two, I might still be in the hunt due to how I performed at other tourneys. It's like real life golf I guess. The real Tiger Woods doesn't play every tourney, but is still the favorite to win the Fed Ex cup this year. It's really no different than NASCAR either I guess, granted those dudes go to every race, but in reality you could place top 5 in every race without ever winning one and probably still walk away the season champion.

People have real lives, kid's ballgames, vacations, wives or girlfriends, not all the DLC, etc. That's kinda why the FedEx style race will be cool. It encourages you to play, but it's also not the end of the world if you miss a tournament. Plus, who are you gonna tell if you were the Bushwood FedEx Cup winner? Nobody outside of this board cares. If I told the people at work about it, they would wonder why somebody my age would even be playing video games. And it is for sure that my wife couldn't care less about it, lol.

I wake up at 5:30 am or so to help get my wife up for her commute. I don't have to be to work until 8 am and the job is only ten minutes away, so often can play the daily in the morning. Even if I can't (like today), it only takes about 25 minutes to play a round; not hard to squeeze that in most evenings.

So is the virtual trophy going to be the Ty Webb Trophy? Or should it be a Gopher made of silver and gold? lol. I printed out our Fed Ex schedule and put it up in my office at work. Someone asked me what it was and I told them. They gave me that "you are a nerd" look, but then seemed fascinated that we can do the things we are doing with our online CC. The nice thing is the minute I told him the CC name was Bushwood he cracked up and got the movie reference immediately.

I have this friend in his 30's and he's got a really hot wife (it's okay, he knows we know this already about her), and she buys him video games. One day I was at his place and she just got home from the mall and dropped off his Black Ops 2 game then said she was going to take a nap. I was like "dude, you lucky bastard". She heard me, came into the living room and said "the reason why I feed his video game habbit is because his Xbox is in our house and not in some bar where all the hoochies hang out. I'd rather have him home blowing up stuff on the screen than being out with his single friends doing lord knows what."

You nailed it. The wife already makes fun of me lol. I get about an hour in the morning after I send the one off to school and the other naps. Then or 9-11pm is when I sneak my tourneys in.
