Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)
I wanted to weigh in on another thing that's being talked about. Control vs Power. I started my CAG out as Power and tried Control for a few rounds after I had my attributes in the mid 80s or low 90s (Power and Accuracy, anyways). I found that I was the littlest bit more accurate, but the loss of yardarge was far more detrimental than the gain in accuracy was helpful.
As others have mentioned before, even after a strong drive, I'd be playing mid to long irons for approaches on most Par 4s, and on some of the longer ones I might have to use a Hybrid or 3W. I wasn't able to stick my approaches close, simply because I was so darn far away. More often than not, I can get closer with a semi miss hit Wedge or Low Iron on a Power golfer than with a great Hybrid or 3W shot on a Control golfer. So, for me personally, a Power golfer works out a lot better overall.
Sometimes during the course of play my stroke will get a little sloppy. If I hit a particularly bad shot, the next few shots I'll take a couple of practice swings before my actual shot to help get the "feel" of the swing plane back. If you aren't already aware of this, you can do perform a practice shot by pushing down on the left analog stick after you've addressed the ball. It could be the right one if you use your right-stick for swinging. I use the default left-stick setup, so I'm not sure.
When I make my swings, I value hitting my swing plane line over keeping a great tempo. Most of my swings will be Overswing/Slow, with an occasion Overswing/Normal. I rarely go for Fast tempo, because when I do I'll smack it out of bounds, like I did in today's daily, and I don't like Bogeys.
Lastly, after kodiak mentioned a while back that he plays a high trajectory shot, I figured I would try it out on Tournament course conditions. Before I tried high trajectory, I was having trouble knocking it close and sometimes even holding the green with medium trajectory on Tournament conditions. High trajectory made a huge difference for me. I have yet to play in really windy conditions with it, so I'm not sure how that will go, but with calm winds it has been very helpful.
Sorry that this became a bit long winded, but Col. Trauma asked me a question while I was playing the daily, and I thought to myself that I should throw some info about my routine out, in case any of it might be helpful to others and allow them to shoot lower. Going low is the goal, and if I can help contribute in some way to make even a single good round a great one, it will be worth it. Cheers!Xbox Live Gamertag: BigBabyBrother

Didn't know about practice swings, thanks.I read somebody complaining they weren't in the game a while back so I never looked into it.

No problem! I think you can't use any practice swings in any H2H matches. I've only played stoke simultaneous thus far, so I know you can't in that, but maybe you can in an alternate shot or four ball format? Any of you guys who play team based H2H know for sure?Xbox Live Gamertag: BigBabyBrother

Man I am terrible. Any tips for a draw golfer? I always seem to drift (fade?) right. I am a righty. Dude I follow that red line in the swing box? Why do I always push right, even when I shape left prior to swinging?
Any tips would be much appreciated, I have no idea where to aim.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)
Well, just signed my scorecard at Muirfield after switching to Power Swing. Finished with a +2 and I'm pretty happy with that. Could have been better, but I faltered on the back 9 with my approaches.
I did have a first for me though... 2 eagles in a round. First one was a 2nd shot from the rough after I missed the fairway on one of the earlier holes on the front 9. Could not believe it went in. Second one was an eagle putt on one of the holes on the back 9.
There is definitely smaller margin of error on your swings with power compared to control. Barely missed some fairways that I would not have missed with control. Chalk this up to being new to power swing.
All in all, not bad for my first CC round using power. Thought I'd be spraying the ball all over the place.
Current setup now is: Power Swing, Draw with High Trajectory.Last edited by RGmoney; 05-08-2013, 11:21 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)
That was the the first time ever I've had an eagle in a CC event. Coming from the land of a control golfer, I couldn't tell you what an eagle opportunity looked liked. Now bogeys, double bogeys, etc... I know those like the back of my hand.
The new found power is nice, but oh you must be careful with the swing.Last edited by RGmoney; 05-09-2013, 12:46 AM.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)
I know this isn't going to fly with a lot of guys, but I'm implementing an honor rule for myself, and others can choose to join. The reason is these scores through 18 holes are ridiculously unrealistically low.
It's very simple:
Cap out at 70 on all attributes. Don't increase any attributes unless scoring under par.
**for each stroke under par, increase attribute by 5.
**for each stroke over par, decrease attribute by 5.
**for each round in double digits over par, decrease Accuracy or Power by 5.
I go a bit further and keep track of my stats in terms of driving, approach, recovery and putting.
This makes things a lot of fun, because I'm only as good as my worst shot - and I strive very hard to score well so I can increase my attributes - and that way there is a penalty suffered if I don't set forth.
I think doing this has helped me enjoy the game - and why I'll shoot the way (slightly better lol) that I do in real life. If I ever get close to shooting 59 consistently, bury me - I've gone to Heaven and there's no point in playing on the tour.Last edited by Matt10; 05-09-2013, 01:11 AM.Comment

Re: Xbox 360 OS Bushwood CC (TW14)
I'm way past 70 and still hit and miss on the course. I really only see 2 or 3 guys that are consistantly shooting really low.
If I solely cared about winning or being in better shape with trying to win, I'd just play in a different CC.
However I have tons more fun playing guys I know H2H and the CC is a nice change of pace.Joshua:

Like Skyboxer said, now that my normal group has a good pool of guys to play H2H with, I enjoy that quite a bit and do the CC events after our H2H rounds.S.O.S Crew

I dont get all these freezes... You'd think Id have had at least 1 by now since I play a lot. Either thats some bad luck with EA servers or some consoles are going bad.Joshua:
