Tiger Woods 14 - Demo to include shot arcs

I just learned that the Tiger '14 demo will have simultaneous shot arcs enabled! If I read the tea leaves correctly, that means you could conceivably arrange to hook up with a buddy or group of buddies, tee off at the same time and follow each other's shots through the number of holes available. I don't know that you'll be able to voice chat through the game's chat facility in the demo, but you could always use the XBox Live party for that. Also, they confirmed that all five difficulty levels will be available to the gamer in the demo.

I had an idea that EA Sports wasn't doing a lot of advertising and video promotion because they were banking on the demo doing more to state their case this year. This live functionality in the demo adds some weight to my suspicions, IMO.

Wow, this is great news. I'm looking forward to seeing it in action and trying my hand at the simulation difficulty. It seems like the release for this game is so far away lol.

It gets better, the Executive Producer for Tiger Woods 14 confirmed today that "Connected Tournaments" will be part of the demo. Furthermore, there will be Connected Tournaments of various difficulty levels also. I guess they could do this with 3 or 4 holes, but wouldn't it be cool if they sprung 9 holes on us for the demo? Not sure how these demo connected tournaments will be cycled, but it will be fun to have a go at Simulation difficulty in a connected tournament!

It hasn't been directly addressed. I know you'll be able to carry at least 75,000 XP from your Tiger 13 player, but I'm pretty sure you're going to have to build a new CAG from scratch on which to apply that XP. The player models and Gameface change enough each year that this becomes a necessity.

It hasn't been confirmed yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get to try out the new
Spectator mode camera in the "Connected Tournament" demo. It looks like we'll be spectating shot tracers minus the animations of the players generating them though. IOW, I don't think the spectator mode in Connected Tournaments is going to be the same as what I would call spectator mode in Simultaneous Stroke play over the last few years, where you see the visage of the CAG/licensed pro executing the strokes after you've holed out your shot if they haven't finished the current hole yet.

Great!! the XP carry over was more important anyway. I sunk way too many hours into Tiger 12 and 13, so being able to keep that progress is very nice.

That 75,000 XP that I was able to apply to my Tiger 13 CAG from Tiger 12 went a long way. The plodding, attribute building phase of the game wears out its welcome with me after a couple of hours, and this helped take some of the pain out of that.

Update on the demo from the Executive Producer of the game: It will feature a 3-hole Connected Tournament at Royal Birkdale. The spectator mode and voice chat options will be available in the Connected Tournament demo. There will also be a "Quick Play" option available in which you'll play 3 holes at Oak Hill, under final round conditions with Broadcast Presentation in effect.

EA Sports has "re-branded" Live Tournaments and are now calling them "Connected Tournaments". I think they did it to embrace the more 'connected' feeling the Live Tournaments will now have, with the Simultaneous shot arc/ game negotiated voice chat potential, and the real time, hole-by-hole scoring and stat updating.

The Broadcast Presentation I don't have a solid handle on based on the available data. Yes, the broadcast presentation will feature the new cameras, which I'm pretty sure will be in the demo. What I don't know yet is how the Broadcast Presentation will work when coupled with the "Presentation" option, which I'm told will be available in the Settings menu. I think all we've seen so far is Follow Camera Broadcast Presentation work, which by design doesn't cut to the "Broadcast Presentation" camera very much. I think the demo will let us finally see the more player perspective oriented Broadcast Presentation that will be more befitting of the name.

I don't think I mentioned this elsewhere, but you'll also be able to play one of the "Legends Challenges" in the demo, in addition to being able to navigate through the entire Legends menu, just to see what's there. You will also be able to unlock a 60's vintage Arnold Palmer for use in the final game by defeating the demo Legends Challenge you're given.
