    short game

I dont quite understand the short pitch and chip shots around the green,
How do you know how much power a full swing will get you.

It just seems you swing without any clue how far the ball will go

I had the same issue. My solution was to play the hole over and over again. I learned distances when it came to the short approaches. The power of the meter doesn't quite add up when in short. It just takes practice. Just my experience with the demo.

Ok, got this from Sean in the EA forums. You need to bring the aim marker back and you should get the precision meter with accurate distance. Never knew that!

Are you playing with the Swing Meter on or off?

If off, you should turn it on to practice these shots. Your aim dictates how big the swing meter draws. If you swing perfectly to the end of that meter, and have the correct follow through speed, you will get the distance you aimed for. Keep in mind, the aimer is your carry distance, so you need to read your shot and consider how much it would roll out.

Adding to what CCZ said, if you aim for a short enough distance, your Swing Meter changes to a precision chip meter, that is very similar to the putt meter. This enables you to hit short chip and run shots. They can be very useful when you are barely off the green. Play around with them. Try using your PW, 9 iron, even you mid and longer irons. There are all sorts of shots you can create around the green for many different circumstances.

As mentioned above, everything seems to be dictated by where you aim the target. So a target at 40y and a target at 20y will have pretty much the same looking meter from what I've seen. For chips, I take into account the level and slope of the green, how far i have, and bring the chip fairly close to myself and roll it to the pin.

I'm not an expert at this game, but on Pro I netted 2 chip-ins in one round, and get one pretty much every round now.

            Re: short game

If you change the aim marker to Total Distance in Visual settings it changes the aiming in short game too?

What I mean is when you have a 35-yard pitch shot and in default visual settings the aim marker is showing where the ball should land with perfect swing. I'm not sure is this the case in short game but if it is there is propably lots of players confused with this... I bet people are aiming to the pin and overshooting all the time if it works this way...

Just tried this quickly in Sim mode, in 40-yard pitch shot the difference in Carry distance aiming and Total distance aiming is 5 yards, I changed the aiming style during gameplay and the aiming marker moved 5 yards back and forth. I'm going to use Total distance aiming personally...

Still can't figure out the precision chipping. I don't really notice a difference after moving the aim marker back other than a shorter swing. Am I doing something wrong?

Are you playing with the swing meter off? Because you would only notice the shorter swing then. But with it on, you will see the meter change to a version of the putt meter.

If you are on your shortest wedge, you have to be aimed at an extremely short distance. But for longer clubs you can be aimed a little further.

Not sure to be honest. Whatever the default setting is on Sim difficulty.

Not at home to test ATM but played a round or 2 this morning and tried messing with it after reading about it. Probably user error.

It defaults to off in Sim. Try a few rounds with it on and you will see how it works. Then you can apply that knowledge when it is off.
