How do you drop a ball in TW14?

Everytime I hit into a water hazard it drops me in the rough and I end up hitting a few more balls in the hazard. How do I move backwards to drop in the fairway?

Unfortunately, you can't... It's a weakness in the game that one would not expect to find in a 2013 vintage, next-gen console video golf game, but there it is...

You can't, gotta take what the game gives you. Wish they'd add manual drops to the game, maybe next gen.

Wasn't an omission. It was done on purpose because they could never get it right during testing as it broke many other things.

the xbox/ps3 have only 512mb of ram. the main issue is lack of ram.

Actually, the main issue is that the current engine has been optimized and had feature add-ons put on it for 8 versions....if they tried to implement drops, no telling what kinds of things that would break in the process. Can't wait for new consoles and a clean new engine for TW....

well, yes, that is true... but my point was focused on the original reason -- why did they optimize it this way? yep. you guessed it, 512mb of ram.

if the xbox 360 had shipped with 8gb of ram (or even 1 or 2 gb), then tiger14 (and all prior iterations during those 8 versions) would have the ability to have included more realistically rendered entire courses. not just narrow cut-outs of each hole.

i love the tiger woods series -- especially this year. i'll definitely love it even more with 8gb of ram to develop with.

It is more an issue of the game code being compromised if they tried to put proper ball drops in. Introduce a new feature, spend forever fixing everything the new feature breaks.....

Didn't EA purchase Headgate who developed PGA2000 for Sierra? I think that was the best golf game ever. The mouse swing was fantastic but unfortunately that cannot be replicated with a game controller.
