PK, PatsFan,

I never said there was anything wrong with the thoughts he posted I just think his thoughts needed to be addressed.

There are many people who read the reviews that dont set foot in the forums. His comments wouldnt bother them. The ones that sign up for an account to read the thoughts are who he is misrepresenting.

If every game was reviewed only for the passionate sports gamer we wouldnt see a single score about 50.

Every review I write doesnt take the hardcore gamer into mind. This is why PatsFan and PK are so hot on this is they ARE the passionate sports gamer.

I just felt that not everyone is as passionate. My 20 year old step son loves the game and he could careless how true to life it is or how little of a sim it is. He plays that more then he is playing the shooters which says a lot since he is not a sports fan.

My 2 cents, and everyone elses is also appreciated. My comments were not based on an OS stance, but my own personal opinions, so any problems you have with the comments need to be directed towards me, NOT the site.

>>>Good gaming is for me. Perhaps you're fine with the plethora of bugs in MVP. If that's what you accept as quality gaming, then that's great for you. Blissful ignorance is a wonderful thing.<<<

I guess I'll side with the dark side on this one.

Links for the Xbox is not a sim. But it's the closest thing to a sim on a console, and it's a hell of a lot of fun. That's good enough for me, as I don't golf in real life and don't demand total realism. But for those who want the real thing like Pats, the only way to go is PC golf.

Oh, and he's right about MVP: It has as many bugs as a camping trip during the summer. Disappointing game, but then again, all of the baseball titles released so far have been mediocre at best. You'd think developers would give baseball games similar amounts of attention as they do football games, but football games are so far ahead of baseball in realism and lack of bugs it's almost comical.

And while I appreciate everyone's defense of the OS review and reviewer, HDaniel asked for thoughts on the review. Pats posted his and was burned at the stake for it.

What's the point of asking for thoughts on the review if you can't absorb and swallow a few negative thoughts, especially when Pats laid out specific, valid issues he has with the game? Next time, just end the initial post with "Compliments?" instead of "Thoughts?"

The vast majority of posters liked the review. Isn't that enough of a warm security blanket? Fellas, you've got to take a little bit of the negative mixed in with all of the positive. It's a review, an opinion, and that's always subject to debate. The only gospels are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Awaiting the flames with my Nomex suit ...

Take care,
PK

A very objective post, however be clear that the one's yelling at patsfan did not write the review. Your post is worded as if hdaniel or some other OS staff was going off because someone didn't like the review and that's very unfair to the staff.

For what it's worth, I disagree with patsfan's thoughts as comparatively speaking the game is great. it's fun, has great replay value and is the most realistic golf game ever made for anything but the PC. I also think his delivery sucks donkey balls and that he has a very unnecessary edge to all his posts. But, he just stated his opinion which is the same that everyone else did and there shouldn't be anything wrong with that.

While I don't think it's a sim, I do think only a few minor changes are needed.

It has to be harder to hit great shots and easier to hit bad ones. Now the levels are just fine the way they are but they needed to add the Ultra-Expert level where you have to have perfect thumbs to hit every fairway and green. That way all the non-golfers and weekend warriors could be happy and the hardcore goflers could have a challanging game without a rework of the entire game.

BTW I think Links Xbox and PC are by far the best looking golf games around.

John:

True, but I think PatsFan was on to something regarding the lies. Every lie in the rough and sand seems to be the same. You never see a ball buried in the rough or sand.

Still, I love Links for what it is -- the most enjoyable balance between sim and arcade I've played in a console golf game.
