Re: Links 2003 on the way - Post your questions here
Steve asked a few months ago on the old board if anyone wanted to do the review, since he was not a golf gamer. I was the first one to raise my hand. I have played every edition since Link 386 so this is like Christmas coming early.

Well, this is not a question you'll be able to answer off the gold but ...
I really can't understand why this isn't getting ported to the Big Green Machine - it's one of MS's strong game brands, and could definitely bring a new set of buyers in ....5WG | Facebook | Twitter | fiftytwoplays

I have one reason behind why they have yet to. Links has always had the static postcard look to it. I am guessing they do not feel that will go over well with console owners. Of course they are making some strides with the dynamic cam and this year with the real time swing. But until they make the scenery done in real time I just dont see this one going over very well on the consoles.Comment

The best thing they did was that "fast play" that they introduced in the last patch. Now when you play on the interenet everyone plays the hole at the same time and there is a window showing where everyone's ball is. Love it.Comment

I have a brand new computer with 50+ GB of space so that should not be a problem.
And I take back the 386 being the first since apparently my memory is going away at my old age. Links: The Challenge Of Golf was the very first title and the one I started on. How could I have ever forgotten about the DOS Version of the game.

Oh the memories. What were the course that came with the first links? I seem to recall having Torrey Pines and Bounitful when I first got the game and remember getting Firestone and Pinehurst.

The new courses are listed here.

As for the course converter, correct me if I am wrong but it was not included when 2001 first came out to retail, and was not available until the first patch? Then it became bundled with the first 2001 extra course disc.

wow, those are courses they have never tackled before. Well they have the championship courses available to buy, but I don't want to buy that disk when I already have those courses. The first links came only with Torrey Pines. I had Dorado Beach, Bountiful, and Pebble. Bountiful is still my favorite course to play. I have converted that sucker all the way to links 2001.Comment

Yea I did the same over the years, but I am going to shell out the $20 for the 20 courses anyway. I can only hope they will let us convert the oldies not on that list.Comment
