Re: The Golf Club favorite courses
Same problem here... looks great, but it's a slideshow on my PS4. I have the same problem with Ross Hollow, Dunwoody Leicht, among others. I'm probably a lot more sensitive to frame rate issues than a lot of folks. When I have to consciously slow my golfer's swing down to something that feels like I'm swinging a club under water in order to actually hit the ball, that's when I have a problem with frame rates rendering the game unplayable.Duke Football? Re: The Golf Club favorite courses
Guys any suggestions for lower difficulty courses that look nice?
I'm just not into the extreme difficulty most people are making. It seems like 80-90% of the courses are super narrow fairways with lots of hazards and turns and very fast, small greens with craziness surrounding them.
I just find a lot of them to be a bit tedious and overly challenging fairing on the unnecessary side of things.
Challenge is cool, but there's nothing wrong with a course you can score under par!Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

The guys here score well on my two courses, which I made on the easier side but still scenic. Point Reyes Links, and The Bridges CC. Try The Bridges first and see what you think.GO 'HAWKS!

I just played The Bridges and really enjoyed it. That course has a lot of beauty and personality, and I appreciated the birdie opportunities after some of the ridiculous courses I've played lately. Very nicely done. I'll definitely try Point Reyes next.Comment

Re: The Golf Club favorite courses
I agree that some designers seem scared of par, like they are trying to get everyone that plays their courses to shoot +10 or something. Yes, no one wants to see -20 every round but, there is nothing wrong with -5 if the course is still fun to play.
I don't mind the challenge of the hard course and my skill has improved to where I can normally stay within 10 shots of par, even on the most difficult courses. My problem isn't even with the fairways and the number of hazards, my problem is the crazy greens. Some of these designers make beautiful course but then create circus greens. One of the biggest complaints about the last TW was the circus pins and now we have designers in TGC doing the same thing IMO. Both EA and these designers do it for one reason only, it artificially increases the difficulty. I'd wager that if you can't make your course challenging without circus greens then you are just not that good of a designer, no matter how pretty you made the scenery.
This is why my top favorite courses are ones like Hitchens Valley, The Colonial Grand and Gregors Firth V2 (and many others). Those courses are all beautifully designed and offer a nice challenge with fair greens. The greens on Gregors Firth may be a little small on some holes but they are still pretty fair IMO.Last edited by rolltide1017; 10-06-2014, 04:21 PM.Comment

ive designed my courses to use more long irons onto fast greens. i think what happens is people dont take the speed of the greens into consideration and just try to go for the flag all the time. my courses play like US opens, at least that what was my attempt. so sometimes you have to aim short of the green and run it on. ive tried to put pins in difficult locations as well so you have to hit the center of the green and give yourself, at the very least, a long birdie putt...but two putting and playing par is ok too. what ive found on the OS tour so far, its too easy for me. I dont want to shoot -10 in 10mph+ winds. fairways are too large and greens are too flat. shot selection isnt critical off the tee and it becomes too routine to just go for the flag. i want to think when i play a round and the first 3 courses (i think it was 3 before we rebooted), i dont think.... i just hammer away.
but the beauty of this game is that there are courses for all skill levels and there are so many options to boot. so if a particular course isnt to your liking, you just remove it from your playlist. if you thoroughly enjoy one, its on your playlist. to each is own...we are not limited like we were in TW.Last edited by globalbeats7; 10-24-2014, 05:50 PM.Comment

Re: The Golf Club favorite courses
Guys, my first post on the golf board. I just published my first course, Deer Brook Mountain Golf Club. Would appreciate any feedback on this course that may help me on future releases. It has some easy holes early but toughens up as the round progresses. Just remember it was designed to NOT hit driver every hole.
Thanks in advance!

Unnatural and flat out goofy looking fairways and greens. The landscape overall is just weird.
I quit after 6 holes. I saw enough. Here's a hint. If it doesn't take you at least a couple hours, it's probably not a real good course. I could put something like this together in 10 minutes.PSN - Josh1982Comment

I'll be honest here Bill. I don't know what you were going for w/ this, but it's not good.

I am a little to old to get discouraged or upset. I would not ask for feedback if I didn't want it. Appreciate the encouragement. I am just glad we have this site to discuss things. Been a Show player for years and come here almost every day even though I don't get to post much.Comment
