    Looking for some Putting tips

Apologize if I missed the thread on this but I did look...

I'm getting fed up with 3 and 4 putting from inside 10 feet. I've watched the videos and understand reading greens etc. I seem to have the knack for coming up short on the 1 foot putt or sail it 30 feet by.

    Is it just me?

Tap ins are rediculously hard in this game that's my only gripe about it

Well for starters be sure to know the speed of the greens, before you enter the course. The accuracy meter plays a role as much as aiming for the break does. If you miss your meter to either side, especially on longer putts it can cause you to pull or push your putt off line to a higher degree.

Also should mention that if you are playing with the green grid off, it is imperative that you adjust the yellow aiming marker beyond the cup on short tap in putts. Actually that could be shot recommendation feature that you can also toggle on and off. In this case the marker must be moved back or you will be missing short putts all day (been there done that LOL). With shot recommendation on, the game will automatically adjust the marker for you.

Other than that it's all about practice practice practice! You have to get a feel for green speeds, up and down hill putts and the breaks left to right.

Rest assured, you will get better. I used to 3 and 4 putt ALOT when I first started playing.

If you are having lots of trouble with distance I recommend paying extra attention to Hoos advice about moving the aiming marker to account for green speed or uphill vs downhill putts. I didn't realize how much effect this had on distance until recently. It was so frustrating 3 putting from 5 feet away and missing tap ins.

Thanks for this as it is brand new information!

Just came in at 5 over. Still had 1 4 putt and 3 3 putts. Putting was much better overall though. Didn't miss any one footers...

Holy crap. I never touched the yellow putting stick for distance (just left to right) but since ive started aiming a few feet ahead of the hole and doing a calm stroke it goes in basically everytime, considering i read the putt right. My enjoyment of this game has increased 10x since i no longer miss putts from 3 inches away.

My biggest issue is the 10 foot putt with about 2 inches of downhill. Unless I get the alignment perfect, I usually go at least 8 feet by the hole.

Should I be moving the aiming marker closer to the hole or just practice with an even light swing?

Play it short on downhill, about 2 ft for every inch of elevation.

I mean I know Julia's palace had tough greens but try out Big Sky Resort.

I made it a tough course but the greens were reasonable.
