I wouldn't be so hard on yourself about where you break 80 at...you still have to get the ball in the hole. Breaking 80 is breaking 80.
When I was an amateur I played in a local tournament on a golf course that is 6000 yards and par 71. The tournament has been going on for 50+ years and players like Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw have played it and won it. The year I won I shot 72-64-66 and set the tournament record at 11 under par. But I am hardly going to discount my win and my low rounds just because the course is only 6000 yards.
By tour standards, just about anything less than 7000 these days is short.

yea, i realize that, but the fact that this course meets my standards of a course that would actually count is why i am so happy about breaking 80. the other courses that I did it at were under 6000yds which is WAY too short and i should be able to shoot in the 70s with ease. you dont even have to ever try to hit a wood off of the tee and its not difficult to break 80.
by the way, congrats on that tourney and that course record, you must be an excellent player
