I have a question for your golf experts......

Had a few friends come down from the States so I decided to take them out to pitch and putt. I'm not a big golf fan and this was the first time I went in like 4 years.

I was having a good time until this old fart behind me (he was playing faster and caught up with my group so he had to wait until we finished the hole) came up and told my group that the flag in the green should be removed and placed in the other whole after we were done playing.

Before that we were just removing the flag when somebody was near the green.

I'm not even sure if he was right and besides he said it with such attitude. We were having fun and then he cut in with his words of wisdom that has no impact on our game what so ever. His comments pissed me off so much I wanted to tell him to fuc* off but I didn't.

So basically when approaching the green, what happens to the flag? Is it always suppose to be moved to other hole (what the mouthy old fart said) or can you just remove the flag when approaching the green and then put it back in the same whole once your done?

I mean by two holes in the green.

But you answered my question, you put the flag back in the same whole you took it out. That old fart was wrong.

Actually when playing a par 3 course or courses that do have 2 holes, it is common practice to switch the flag to the other hole once everyone in your group is done. However, I really dont see why the guy got so upset about it.

Well I was playing pitch and putt (65-110yrds) and some were par 3's with 2 holes. Well when you get near the green you have to lift the flag up anyways. I don't see why you should place the flag in the other hole after your done. It doesn't make a difference. I also don't understand why the old guy got upset.
