Actually when playing a par 3 course or courses that do have 2 holes, it is common practice to switch the flag to the other hole once everyone in your group is done. However, I really dont see why the guy got so upset about it.

Well I was playing pitch and putt (65-110yrds) and some were par 3's with 2 holes. Well when you get near the green you have to lift the flag up anyways. I don't see why you should place the flag in the other hole after your done. It doesn't make a difference. I also don't understand why the old guy got upset.

I've been around golfer long enough to know they are some of the most fickle people alive on the planet. Plus there is always one guy that has to ruin the party and it sure seems like that guy.

Don't sweat it about changing holes. Its not that big of a deal, its not like you were taking divots the size of beaver pelts out of the greens.

yep, just a cranky golfer...though I think the reason you keep switching pins is to have people shoot at the one where people weren't just walking around it

On some par 3 courses and in the winter many courses do this just to save the play on the greens. If it gets a lot of play the wear and tear is brutal.

I hear ya about the old people comment. Two days ago, me and two friends went out golfing, and some old guy asked to join since he was alone. We said sure, not knowing how he'd act.

The ENTIRE time all he did was criticize how we play. He said he was a former golf instructor, so after EVERY shot he'd get all mad and say your doing it wrong. Funny thing is, I do better using the wrong driving form. I know you are supposed to cross your pinky and index finger, but I hold it almost like a baseball bat, and do better.

It got to the point where after he shot one of his drives, me and my friends started aiming for him when he drove off in his cart after he hit his drive. I missed him by only a foot or so on one of them

In short, unless the old guy is your relative, NEVER golf with an old guy you don't know.
