No fault of Tiger Golf has suffered the same fate as baseball. Too slow for the current generation. Too expensive too hard and too time consuming. There are less black players now than in 1970. Doubt Tiger has done more for the game of golf than Jack Nicklaus. Tiger is/was great and is one of the top 5 ever to play. You can put them in any order you want.

Tiger definitely had more of an effect on the financial side of the sport. Everyone who plays today can thank him for the outrageous money available.

Strictly a function of advertising and when a player participated. Point of the thread is Tiger will not win more majors than Jack. Too many good players now.

Much of which was brought by the exposure Tiger brought to the sport.

No doubt Tiger still moves the needle. Tiger/Jack is a Ruth/Gehrig debate. I would gladly take either one.

Anyone watch part 1 of this HBO "Tiger" doc? Not really very enlightening for anyone that's been following golf for the past 2 decades, but there's still part 2. I don't really care about the salacious details of his philandering and what-not, I mean, I consider that his personal life and of no concern to me.

The only question that I wonder about, and I don't know if Tiger could even ever answer it, is "was it worth it?". I mean, he seems like he's had a great life to anyone on the outside looking in (not without its challenges of course), but one wonders how happy he is in general.

He seems a lot happier these days. I think he’s taken a ton of pressure off himself and is enjoying being a dad.

I think the prospect of never being the same again after his back stuff changed his perspective.

I'd agree with the above, and I actually hope that's true (for his sake). Certainly seems (from the outside) like he's enjoyed this twilight phase of his career a lot more, and that seems to be reflected in his overall demeanor, which is a lot more relaxed and relatable.

The father son thing he did with Charlie a few weeks back was fun to watch. He gets it going he can still win but Jack's record is safe.

Tiger Woods recently had his fifth back surgery following nerve pain he experienced during the PNC Championship. He is hopeful to return later this year.

Hopefully he bounces back fine from this, but nothing is a given. Of course, that having been said, this latter stage of Tiger's career has been such a tremendous story that even if it were to sadly end here (hopefully not!), it would still be a heck of an ending. But let's hope this is a relatively minor thing and he can come back from it without much difficulty.

So the news goes from bad to worse. Tiger involved in a single car accident in Cali. Hospitalized with multiple leg injuries. Not good.

Hoping for a full recovery. Don't even care if he can come back from this. Just hoping he can have a normal life.

Man, it's just one thing after another for the guy. Obviously early and no one knows anything yet, but they're reporting 'multiple leg injuries' and he's in surgery, so obviously it's not a good situation. Just terrible.

Hopefully the surgery is minor but at this point I think it is fair to say the season is shot. Seems like more than a multiple fracture type of thing. He's still a strong guy and young enough to recover and lead a normal life. Golf at a high level maybe not.

This is where I am. At this point I don't ever anticipate watching him play again at a competitive level.

Hope he heals quickly and knowing him he will.

Accident happened around 7:30am and sounds like he was running late on his way to see Drew Brees. His vehicle crossed the center line but no signs of inebriation.

I would guess a combination of speeding and distracted driving.
