Just got a Cleveland Launcher 400, and this club, with those Titleist balls = 280-300yds in the AIR for me off the tee, a good 20-30 yards further than before I got the Launcher. I think the Titelist balls spin less off the driver than the top flites do, so they carry further, and the Cleveland is just an incredible driver.

You carry it 300yards? What is your handicap?

Titleist NXT-tour, pretty much the same ball as ProVx but costs half as much.

What are you talking about?! The NXT Tour is NOT like ProV1x. It is quite a bit softer, if anything it is similar to the regular ProV1, not the X.

By the way, I use a lot of different balls, haven't settled on one yet, although I really enjoyed the Strata Tour Professional.

when i have them i usually use ProV1 X-Out but when i'm out of those i play top-flite.

Heh. 8.7 is my index right now. It's come down from 10.5 at the start of the year.

I have played only 11 games this year. Not a single round the entire month of July.

Yeah, I can hit it far. 300yds in the air is if I "go after it". However, due to lack of play and practice, my short game sucks. I waste alot of shots within 100 yards of the hole.

Driving distance doesn't have a very strong correlation with ability. I'm currently playing to a 9.2 handicap and I drive it 265-285 depending on how much distance I want/need and how much accuracy is required on a hole. I know people with better handicaps who don't drive it as far as I do... and people with worse handicaps who can drive the ball 300+ when they put a big swing on the ball.

Well put. Once you get to hitting the ball a reasonable distance off the tee (250), you can score well on reasonably tough courses. You NEED to put the ball into the fairway, but distance is not the most important part after a certain point... if you are accurate and have a short game. More shots are saved by putting well then anywhere else.
