IF they keep up on content, and keep things fresh with DLC of courses, golfers, and commentary they DONT NEED to release this on a yearly basis... (Instead of a 60 dollar game every year, you can buy various DLC at your own discretion and keep the game as fresh as you want it to be without the big money drop once a year)..

I'm not surprised that this is no longer going to be an annual game. It never needed to be before, and I think the annual releases hurt its ability to build a strong community. It's a tough sell as a year title, especially when you factor in purchased courses. That led to people buying every 2-3 years, even when they liked the game, which splits to community.
I'm much more willing to buy courses in a game that might go 3-4 years, and a unified community could help the game maintain a long tail. And this early in the generation, there will always be new buyers coming in. I think they could really maximize their profit tho way.Comment

Not yearly is a good thing. Frostbite graphics should be just fine.
There was always complaining about buying the same courses over and over and now that any courses we buy will be locked in for at least 2 years is a positive dlc development.
If the realistic settings are similar and or better than 14 I will be very happy, 13 and 14 got TONS of playtime for me, far more than any EA offering. This game (14) on the hardest settings is far closer to sim than any other EA Sports title, and that's coming from a scratch golfer.
Not being yearly now has me seriously considering double digital dipping on this game on PS4 and Xbox. My first plan was to get the Xbox disc from best buy and trade it in when it hit ea access. Tease me more Mr. Handsward...
What would really be nice would be to get the Country Clubs back, we had some really fun tournaments at OS Bushwood. It was nice to have a week to play the 4 rounds and I always had something to look forward to, but it seemed like I always wound up playing my 4 rounds on Sunday night finishing with 10 minutes to spare before the weekly expired, lol.Comment

Country Clubs are a must for me. I had so much fun with the CC a few years back.

Since Handsward has already confirmed this won't be an annualized release, the updates and upgrades will be easier to incorporate into the game. Upgrades will no doubt be premium, but that's expected. Goillini03 wants Country Clubs and so do I. EA Sports could well offer a Country Club upgrade later on and charge a premium for it. Then only the gamers who wanted Country Clubs would have to pay for it.
I also think this model will ultimately lead to a larger base of courses that will remain playable over a longer period of time than what we've had up to this point. Yes, we'll have to pay for them, but I'm okay with that as long as they're quality courses and reasonably priced. Overall, I think this is a smart move on the part of EA Sports... a lot smarter than their colossally bad marketing rollout of a new, next-gen franchise. It's gotten a little better over the last week, but I still scratch my head over how anemic this launch as been?? I mean the franchise doesn't even have an official forum less than two weeks away from launch!?Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach CutcliffeComment

Re: Free Courses Post Launch Tweet
I can totally live with paying for courses and with a few free ones here and there if this is going to be a bi-yearly title. A very fair compromise so I don't have to buy Eagle and Birdie packs every single year."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: Free Courses Post Launch Tweet
This. I think this game will follow along the lines of what EA UFC brought. Makes me happy in terms of post-launch support, but also makes me worried of how in-depth in-game modes will be (i.e. Career mode)As the lovely username suggests, yes I am a Braves fan and a Vols fan.

Re: Free Courses Post Launch Tweet
Honestly, if you can't stand to shell out a measley 10$ for more courses, especially when the game is not a yearly release, I don't know what to say. And it may even be free!? Let's just wait and see.Comment
