    Rory McIlroy Post-Launch

Just an idea, with the whole announcment of post launch additions being a little foggy what if EA has decided to release courses/tournaments as they are played IRL

If you look at the courses we are given, TPC Boston, Whistling Straights, Chambers Bay, St. Andrews, all of these courses are upcoming tournaments in the next couple months. What if they are just saving time and space on the disk in order to release new courses as they are played on the real calendar. For example during the US Open they revealed that Chambers Bay is in the game, what if they are going to do this type of video release with each coming tournament.

Maybe being a bit of an optimist, but an interesting idea nonetheless.

I too was thinking something similar to this earlier today. Next year we have the Masters, Oakmont (US Open & Previous course), Royal Troon and Baltusrol. It is quite possible they will scan/render, whatever the heck they do, when they create the courses, or it could be they already have the scans and simply need time to go in and fix the courses with the new hardware specs both the XB1 and PS4 provide.

I'm hopeful this is what we get next year in addition to a few other official tour stops that were not included during the launch.

The Masters won't be in the game. Augusta is very strict when it comes to the licensing and also if EA had the license to the Masters and Augusta it would already be in the game.

It took them 10 years to get it the first time and kept the license for 3 years. What makes you think they can't get it again?

I think the lack of courses all boils down to how poorly TW 14 must have done in terms of sales. I think the budget was stripped back in a cost saving measure and EA will only pay for courses when the tours are due to play them each season.

I hope i'm wrong and i hope sales will be stronger than expected, which will result in EA adding some extra dollars to the developers budget for the game.

I should have specified, I meant for this year.

I think counting anything out at this point is being a bit pessimistic, the fact that it is not an annual release alone leaves me to believe that they have a lot more up their sleeves. Being a game that most people buy after launch day anyway I don't think they are worried about initial sales.

It could also be because since the game was release so late in the golf season they decided to hold off on paying Augusta National their royalty/licensing fee this season and instead pay for it next year when the Masters is upcoming.

Not being on the inside at EA, I would agree with this speculation.

That is what I would do if I were making licensing decisions at EA....
