As was the case with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10? Yes sir! I'd welcome that in a hearbeat... Tiger 10 has the best putting interface of any golf game I've ever played and the fully proportional interface was a big part of the reason it was.

Re: Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR Available Today - Post Your Impressions Here

I played my first game of RM this morning and I am impressed with the game. I played the silly prologue thing and had a round at St Andrews playing as Fowler. For the fist time in years I used the three click system. This is a welcome return. Wind was gusting around 8mph but I'd like it much higher next time. Swing was on hard difficulty. Personally i find the putting to be very accurate and fluid. I can understand those who are used to the very easy Latter day TW games finding it difficult. On those games you hit the hard and it went in. Putts from 10 feet were simply rammed in. Thankfully all of that has changed and players have to actually think about what they are doing. This may put some off. The putting system works for me. If you read the greens and take your time, and hit the lines then it fine.
I deliberately hit balls into the rough a few times to see how the game plays. And it does well. Golf is a simple game in real life and this game strips it back to how the game should be. This game is more about judgement, timing and patience than the silly tricks of previous TW games.
RM is a much more realistic golf game than previous TW games. In real life course like ST Andrews and Sawgrass can be very easy in benign conditions. I know we live in the generation of fair weather players who find adverse conditions to be a distraction. This game can be played in many ways
So far I have only really seen The old course and I wasn't overly impressed with the graphics. They look very digitised and unreal in certain ways. I expected a warmer more real life graphic. But let's see what the other courses look like.
The obvious shortcoming of the game is the the lack of courses. It simply needs more than nine. The two proper fantasy course should be ok. I'm not remotely interested in rubbish like night mode and battlefield drivel. But I suppose these will appeal to the less discerning player.
Overall I am very impressed with the game. I really don't care about the lack of many real golfers. I create my own players. The tournaments have the real names and that's all that matter. I am also not also bothered about the low level of player creation options. Let's face it some people just want to create silly distorted images thinking that they are being different. But that totally predictable. Hopefully we will see proper golfers created this time around.
What matters is how the game players and it plays well. Online only needs head to head and tournaments. This is golf not a soap opera. Thankfully bingo bongo dingo rubbish etc has gone and all of those silly games.
But live in time when people want glitz rather than realism. Golf is a beautiful game and RM has presented it with respect. Yes they have made concessions to the fickle. These people will hate this game.
I can see why EA have stripped this game back and it works for me. The reviews have concentrated on lack of options etc and completely missed out what really matters. I doubt that any of the reviewers have even bothered to play the game.
So it's a good start for me. RM shows promise. Let's have some more courses. I'll happily pay £20 for ten more courses.
Let's not forget games like the order on ps4 cost £45 for less than five hours gameplay. Compared to that, this game is cheap.

Just turn that freaking arc and other aids off.

imgane nhl without sticks. Just a button press. That's so antic. Playing baseball on consoles I prefer stick movement when I want to hit the ball with my bat. Same goes for every game where you have something in your hands to bash at.
If you move the stick makes you feel like you have a real golf club or a baseball bat?
God, we're in a video game.
In my opinion, the important thing is that the general statistics resemble real.
In this game 3 click reflects more realistic results, please try it before judging.

I just wanted to clarify this for some who have maybe read this and been disappointed... The fourth tourney, that represents the masters is NOT on a fictional course. It's on Wolf Creek. Which is very much a real course in Nevada.

Wolf Creek Golf Club strives to deliver the ULTIMATE GOLF EXPERIENCE to each and every guest. As you are called to the first tee and look down towards the green, you notice a one of a kind canvas. The detail of the striped emerald green fairway below, lined with brilliant white sand bunkers, you instantly know that Wolf Creek is a special place. This is only a small sample of what is yet to come.

Brandon, I'm at the office so I couldn't confirm at home, but thanks for the post. I thought the fourth course was Wolf Creek, but was hesitant to post as could not confirm on the PS4. I loved the course. Fun challenge ... especially with no aiming arc!!!

I, too, hope they toughen up Tour Pro with some updates. My next change is to turn the putting grid off. Right now I'm taking the quick course route for the first three rounds and then playing all eighteen on the last round. I like it for the simple fact, that if I were playing all eighteen for all four rounds I would likely be in the top five just about every tournament in Career mode. Using quick rounds, I may or may not be in contention going into the final round. At least for me, it makes the final round more challenging, as well as the run at the Fed Ex Cup.

Happy playing however you choose to do so.

I was playing the game now for 3 hours. It is fun! I'm so glad I can golf again on console, don't liked tgc because it was soulless or without that EA feeling.

Sure the game is missing content. Badly. But the gameplay is quiet entertaining, imo. Playing without spin and boost on tour with zoom.

I'm really looking forward to the future update. As others said it, it's a solid foundation to build upon!!

Question: I can use the right stick to get higher or lower shots right?! And I can use that stick to draw and fade right?! So I don't have to use the swing stick diagonal?! If I want to draw shot I can do it with the left stick only or pulling left straight and using the right stick to draw. Is that correct?! I don't have the arc turned on. So I don't see it.

Another one: is it possible to have big hit moments without using tee power which is only available for standard setting?!

I waited 2 days to post my impression as I was initially not happy with it. After playing many rounds and figuring out everything I am starting to have fun with the game. I have the difficult turned up and am shooting pretty normal scores around -2 to -5. I do not like the putting system at all after playing hundreds of rounds on TGC. Once we get more courses the career mode will be cool. The graphics are a mixed bag for me. At times they are great and at other times disappointing. I played Whistling Straits on this and then played the same user made course on TGC and it looked a lot better on TGC. Overall I would give this 7 out of 10 with a lot of potential if EA supports the game.

I'm still on the fence. I played it first the day before and had a good time but replayed it last night and didn't like it at all. I guess it will take some time but it just makes me want to go play Links 2004.

Anyone else seen this issue with playing a tournament? Not sure how to get to those holes?

I would assume that indicates the golfers' tee times, not the actual hole they're on.

I have to agree with this in principle. I guess I understand why 3-click seems 'last gen' or 'old school', because it was basically the first control scheme ever invented for golf games (going back to "Leaderboard Golf") and is essentially unchanged for the last 3 decades. But is moving an analog thumbstick down-then-up really that much more 'realistic' or 'next-gen'?

I think it's accurate to say that a golf swing is primarily about timing and precision. To me, the best way to "test" or "represent" timing and precision is 3-click - initiating your backswing, stopping at a certain specific point of your backswing, and hitting an impact point ('releasing your hands' if you want to think of it that way). These are more or less perfectly represented by a 3-click swing in my opinion, and that's probably why that scheme has been unchanged for decades. They got it right the first time.

Thumbstick swings might seem more representative of a golf swing because you are 'sweeping' a stick through a back-and-forth motion, but thumbsticks are very imprecise (tons of 'dead zone' movement inherent in thumbsticks, as anyone that's tried to play a FPS on console will attest) and the timing/rhythm involved - at least in most modern games - is not at all representative of a real golf swing IMO. There's no sense of an impact point, and given the imprecision inherent in thumbsticks, there's no real way to "feel" the difference between a 50% swing and 75% swing (although that distinction is very clear IRL).

For me, other than mouse-based swings or the Wii-advanced swing (or whatever that add-on dongle was called), 3-click remains the most realistic/best way to play golf games.

                      Now get off my lawn!....

Sorry to bother you guys again. Been playing the whole day since it arrived. Can't stop.

With my created character, playing the web.com tour, I'm always slow like 3-9%. Is this because me character is still to weak (I choose precision when creating my profile)?

Between the rounds at the first tour, can I only withdraw or just leave the tournament? Is the progress saved when I enter a new mode after finishing the first day?

Well for Pros, the course is the difficulty level. Look at the scores and the John Deere. -15 to -20 for the week by a bunch of relative no names.

I understand your point, golf is a hard game and the slightest miscue can cause an errant shot, really errant round ruining shot at any time.

I am on the fence about buying this game. But I see your point, everything should have to be perfect to go below par on the harder courses because the miss window is much smaller because of the course. It should be a combination of the course and shot mechanics.

I have played each day since Tuesday. I want to like it because I cranked out $60 for it. But, it is not a good game at all.

No depth, no courses, no fun

This was touted for two years as the greatest golf game ever. "Golf without Limits" Really? I'm limited to, what, 8 real tour courses? I'm limited to what my golfer can look like. Even the settings screen seems more limited than ever.

I've had this series since TW 04 on the PS2 and this is the worst of the games I have purchased, and it is disheartening to figure that the release was delayed for nothing more than a shell of a golf game.

EA did this last year with NHL 15. I gave it another try with this, so I'm not sure if I will give NHL 16 a shot or not. This one really let me down.

The limitations of the create a golfer really kill career mode for me. I'm plying with such a doody looking guy no matter what and on top of that he's beyond obnoxious. He does the robot like three times a round after making a par and goes bezel on birdie putts that pull me into a tie for 7th.

I wouldn't root for that guy in real life!
