what is the overall best game lately

So i havent played an ea golf game since the ps2. i recently got the urge to get back in, but after reading some terrible reviews about the new ps4 version (only a few courses, and the celebrations seem to be an immersion breaker) im wondering what is the best ps3 version of tiger woods all around.

traditional thinking would be that 14 would be the best since it was the last on the ps3 but it seems pretty poor review wise as well. 12 seems to be the best with 13 a little behind.

Do you guys have any suggestion on which is the best all around to pick up?

I'm hooked on The Golf Club...player-ran tournament sites like Realistic Golf Tour and TGCTours.com keep me locked in week to week.

I bought Rory day 1, was fun for a few rounds but wasn't for me long-term.

Never played Tiger 14, so can't speak for it.

TW14 was a good experience. Tons of courses etc.

RM is a great foundation IMO. As it continues to grow since it's not a yearly release any longer, it's going to grow into a much better game IMO with new courses, and likely game modes too. I'd be shocked if they dont expand on both of those key area's.

The Golf Club... the course creator is a really cool feature. Allows for never ending course possibilities. To me though, the poor visuals, presentation, and lack of real players/courses, made it a boring game to me.

To be honest, both current gen titles leave alot to be desired.

For me though, it's Rory PGA that is my go to golf game right now. Mainly on the authentic courses and golfers, presentation, visuals, it's just more I'm looking for. I'm not going to get into which has better gameplay. To me, they're pretty similar. Pull back, push up. To me, they are video games. If I'm looking for it to resemble my real golf game, I'll go out and play a real round of golf like I do on a regular basis.

Either way, I'd say check them both out. Shame you dont have the chance to play Rory on the EA access preview, that would have at least given you a chance to play one for free.

Either way, you'll get a good game. Your previous gen titles are better choices though if you want everything you're used to, because both TGC and Rory (in its current state) leave a bit to be desired.

I usually play the golf club. It doesnt bother me that there are no real golfers, as thats not what the game is all about, and quite frankly, if a game is not going to have all the golfers you see on tv, then there is no point, imo.

The one thing that gets me about The Golf Club is the shot you make from certain positions. I hate seeing spin out of a bunker, or from a short flop. The backspin in the game bothers me to look at period.

The variety and quality of courses is truly amazing though, and you can literally spend hundreds of hours in course creator on one course if you wanted to.

My golf game time is now primarily split between The Golf Club and Hot Shots 3/4. Hot Shots is fun to play, and I actually really enjoy the ball physics.

Re: what is the overall best game lately

The PC version of The Golf Club is getting the most attention on my play chart right now, followed by the PS4 version of TGC, then Perfect Golf on the PC, and TGC on the XB1 coming in last. I haven't played Rory McIlroy PGA Tour since my 10 hour Early Access trial expired, but I was so disappointed in what I experienced with it that I have no desire to play it again until they fix some of the show-stopping objections I have to it:

1.) No option to turn off the green fill/tempo meter until after the shot.
2.) No option to turn off the ridiculous post shot animations.

As one who enjoys the online tournaments the most, I'm also very disappointed that there is at the very least no hole-by-hole scoring update in online tournaments!? I'm now close to saying that this will be a requirement before I buy this game as well. One of the very few things I liked about Tiger 14 was how live and vigorous the online tournaments felt with the game's "Connected Tournament" feature, where you could even see the ball tracers of concurrent players during tournament events. RMPGAT is so far from what that experience was like that it's shockingly deficient!
