Re: Tiger Woods - Do you have it, and how is it

The whole game is easy. It felt exactly the same as Tiger Woods 2003 and 2004. Instead of fixing the way the swing engine is execute, they change the golf course with TigerProofing. I think that is the wrong way to go.

EA needs to have at least a mode that the swing engine is alot more sensible. It's a joke. I have to try to get to the rough. That is how easy it is.

I unlocked Tour difficulty last night and it seems to make the game slightly harder, but not nearly hard enough. Maybe I didn't notice much of a difference because I already had all of the aids turned off.

Don't get me wrong. I was having some fun. I wasn't shooting in the low 50s. However, I was hitting the ball straight every single time. If I missed a fairway it was because I didn't compensate for the wind.

So is it still safe to say that one can win four round tournaments by upwards of 35-40 shots? This whole difficulty question is the one thing that holds me back on picking up this game. I really liked TW 2004, but it was just far too easy. Only the Australian and the jungle courses provided any challenge. I'd love to hear from those of you who have played through an entire tournament to see if it's still possible to blow the rest of the field away.

I finished second in my first Tour event with all the aids turned off and a character with only power raised to 50. I think I finished around -16 for the tourney with a few eagles and one double eagle on a par 5. I don't think wind was much of a factor so I hit all the fairways on par 4's and 5's and all but a couple on par 3s (was short not left or right). This was not on Tour difficulty, however, I played a round of second tourney with Tour difficulty and shot -6.

It is almost impossible to hit the ball left or right in this game even on Tour difficulty unless you have a really bad lie. I experimented last night and TRIED to hit it off target. If you think of a watch as the swing, you would have to swing to 3 or 9 O'clock to get a shot off-target. This is a *little* better than normal difficulty in which it is almost *impossible*to not hit a straight shot.

I hope I am missing something. I think the game looks fantastic and there is a ton to do. I did not find last year's PS2 version this easy with a low rated character and all the difficulty options cranked up and wind at least at "breezy" or "windy."

Re: Tiger Woods - Do you have it, and how is it

I'm going to wait until I read more data (especially from Blacklover), but it looks like a close call for 2005. As the movie "Dog Day Afternoon" starts on the New TNN, I must say that 2004 was enjoyable though easy. I had to make it deliberately challenging by using tips from the properly named "administrator". Namely playing w/gale force winds, intentionally shot shaping, etc. But this year...

The Tigerproofing seems more a gimmick and less than what I was after on the PS2 (course creator). We'll see how it goes, but it does seem to be more of a selling point for EA than a game enhancer.

Particularly disappointing is the lack of changes in the putting engine. In fact the game does seem the same as before.

Hopefully the new courses and options will make the game playable as I did enjoy playing the classic courses in 2004 w/"Jeff Barnes rules".

Uh oh. Its starting (the bank robbery on Dog Day Afternoon).

                  Gotta run.

I'm telling you guys, if you want to play real golf, get the PC version.

Put that puppy on the hardest level, play from the back tees on a tough course and you'll struggle to break par.

You are the exact person EA markets their game to.

I bought it on Tuesday for X-Box but have not had time to try it out... I will probably play it on Friday night after the wife and baby go to sleep.
