I'd start off in no higher than "Hacker" difficulty while you're learning the game. You're a right stick swinger so you'll have no problems there. There is no swing feedback telemetry on the course, which I find regretable. You get a ton of swing feedback telemetry on the Practice Range, however.
Ir you're using the controller, all the menu navigation has to be done with the controller. I find that unfortunate. You can go into "Settings" and temporarily change control back to "mouse/keyboard", but you have to remember to change it back to "Gamepad" before readying up in the "Pregame" menu. I've forgotten to do that after optioning to use mouse/keyboard for menu/chatbox navigation, and wound up suffering through a couple of 3-click rounds that were like having teeth pulled to an RTS-C'er
