Not for me. I like the game and it provides a good challenge, so it's fine there. However, the career mode doesn't do much for me at all. I know golf isn't really a sport where off-the-course stuff is that big of a deal, but I think features could be added to make competing in each tournament more interesting. Goals, milestones, rivals, etc.

TGC did a good job of adding the online clubhouse, but finding a group where you can be competitive is tough. For that reason, I prefer to play head-to-head rounds in a live group or against the CPU. That being said, since the career mode isn't very interesting to me, there isn't much incentive for me to play. I've spent more time creating a course than actually playing the game.

Rory was a beautiful game, but it was souless. If I could get some Rory/TGC combo with an entertaining career I'd be good.

You can edit every golfer in your career mode to be real life. Well, in name and nationality anyway. But I would wait until you have opened up your career to level 10 first. That way it adds 50 more golfers but their handicaps will be better as well. Also, with level 10 you can run a full season with 4 majors.

Rory is kind of arcade, but still kind of an okay choice. TGC2 is way better though

Rory with all the boosters and helpers turned off is just as challenging as TG2. Rory is more visually pleasing, has real clubs, progression, and has decent presentation.

TG2 has infinitely more play-ability though. Since I'm a singleplayer guy, I prefer Rory.

I'm also a singleplayer guy and TG2 with a customized tour and all the created real golfers you could imagine was amazing.

Not restrained by course limit since almost all courses have been recreated you can pretty much have an almost 100% true to life tour season played at their actual courses with all the real golfers participating in the tourneys.

It took time to set up but it was well worth it.

I've been reading reviews and watching gameplay of TGC 2 and I'm thinking of grabbing a s/h copy at the gamestore. One question.....is the game purely played online via an internet connection....or can it be played directly from disc?

You can play offline but if you want to play the hundreds of great user created courses you will need an internet connection to access the servers where the courses are located.
