Apparently, the game is still available for purchase on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/PGA-Tour-Gold-PC/dp/B00001NFSW

Although I can't recommend it. Who knows if it even runs on modern computers anymore? I think you'd probably have to emulate a Windows95 environment, and it's not really worth it. It was a good game for the time (with graphics that still somewhat hold up), but there are better now (including, likely, the game this thread is ostensibly about).

The ideal IMO is for the camera to stick with golfer's POV for half or 2/3 of the ball flight, then switch to a 'landing' cam reverse angle when the ball is coming down. This was actually in golf games over 20 years ago (and is frequently how golf is broadcast on TV), so it's always been baffling to me how this got phased out along the way.

I had the cameras set up this way on "PGA Tour Gold" (yes, "Gold", not "Golf"), which was a nice little golf game on PC/Windows way back in the day. Bizarrely, even though it was an EA release, the Interwebs and even Wikipedia (that bastion of all knowledge in the universe!) seem to have forgotten this game's existence. Were it not for the fact that I have the actual box and CD stuffed into a box somewhere, I'm not sure I'd even remember the game. But it existed. And was pretty good.
Don't know if you have tried this already but you can just use the golfer cam and then switch cameras manually with the D Pad while the ball is in flight. Might not be exactly what you are looking for but try out the different cameras to see if you find one that is close to your liking. From memory, I think either left or right on the D Pad gives you a landing camera close to what you're describing.
