I'm curious to hear, in particular from big TGC fans and maybe ones that loved it more in the past but have faded a bit on the 2019 release, what you think a future version of the game needs (that's realistic and within the realm of possible to expect).
Reading the HB forum, it just seems like the mood really has tanked as the somewhat unthinkable of "HB sort of released and abandoned 2019" actually happened, which we all know is very much at odds with how HB was at the very start with TGC 1.
All that aside - we of course have no clue if there even will be another version, but assuming there is...what does it need "next time" to be even better, more complete, etc?
For me - I'd like to see a commitment to hyper realistic physics and shot outcomes that one would expect from clubs/lies/situations in real life - finally fixing the bunkers - more variety in courses (perhaps even a move away from the server hosted everything that restricts 3rd party objects and customization) and overswing.
Finally, I think they should develop some type of transparent business model that's either full on subscription or perhaps a base package with subscription add-on if you'd like more content, more ongoing "between major releases" updates and the like.
As many have highlighted, a golf game need not be "all new" every year or two, but an ongoing sustainable business model would help comfort minds that "it will be there for the long term" and also ensure that things will get fixed and patched and worked on as needed. The software world has changed a bit and ongoing revenue models are becoming quite normal, and I understand it especially in light of the online components and sometimes licensing with ongoing costs for the company, etc.
