While I still feel that this game plays great, looks pretty nice, and will keep my attention for a while, it's not without its glaring warts.

Career Mode glitches with scores and leaderboards need quick and through fixing ASAP. As I posted in the bugs/glitches thread, discrepancies on who wins a tournament, who's playing in a tournament, and other statistical oddities really take me out of the mode and removes all immersion. I shouldn't get a PlayStation achievement for winning a PGA Tour event, and then see that there is no trophy in my career mode trophy case for winning...despite the fact that my career stats show a victory. These are major issues for me, as career mode is my main focus.

I've submitted a 2K support ticket, so I hope this gets patched in a hurry.

Looks like my plan to wait for a sale to purchase the game (if I do at all) is well founded...

Should give them lots of time to fix things before then, as well as give me time to see how long the updates continue.

I know nobody wants to hear this - but we heard that 2019 was going to be a long term game and those updates dried up rather quickly and then it was all hands on deck to work on "the next release"..

Here we are hearing a similar narrative about 2K21....and yet...they decided to put that year "2021" in the title -- which makes me skeptical that it isn't going to be yet another...release....do some updates...and then begin working on PGA 2k22/23

I was squarely on the fence with this game, and it took a pre-release price drop to get me to dive in...I am really enjoying the game as-is, but it does need some attention.

I truly hope they fix the underlying issues that are visible here right off the bat. The career mode ones are the ones I personally want fixed ASAP, but know other problems are in there - especially revolving around online play and societies.

I think, with a couple patches and additional content added post-release, this has the potential to be one of the best golf games of all time.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself...

It will be 2 or 3 patch once again, with 1 or 2 more courses incoming for free and that should be it. After that, they will start working for a game in the new gen consoles.

That’s my prediction also.

My conspiratorial mind actually thinks they probably already have people working on the next gen version for a 2022 titled game that releases a year from now

Game is fun and plays a good round of golf.

It’s annoying to have to press square when putting to remove the flag but I’m getting used to it.

Haven’t started my career yet as I knock the rust off.

After the patch last night I found the swing to be more consistent, doesn't feel as random as before. However, it seemed like slices and hooks were even more extreme.

Pitching is terrible in this game. It's much easier to get a splash shot close to the pin from the fairway than a pitch.

For you earlier adopters who so far like the new release, [U]which changes do you feel make the title substantially better than the prior release, and I'm only asking w/ respect to the playability as a golf simulator for competative golf, not at all career mode.

The amount of customization when it comes to difficulty and user experience is pretty awesome. You can adjust the game to play pretty much exactly how you want it, in terms of how hard the game is, what meters and aids are on the screen, etc.

Thanks for that. In terms of the swing mechanism itself, did they move away from 'tempo' and move towards backswing length and downswing speed, for example? Was the unrealistic power-fade that came from what they called "slow" downswings, changed/fixed?

In TGC2019 we didn't use the putting grid for a long time until we discovered by quickly changing to another club, while on the green, we could access the lie grid, which is good for about 10' of information between you and the hole. That little trick brought our putting right into line w/ PGA tour player stats. Me and partner dispise the psychadelic grid left on the green for its role in suspending disbelief it's just fugly iOO. Can that be done now in the new release do you know? So change to a driver, test the lie grid on the green and see. If not, what are the options as assists for putting?

I purchased 2k21 with very low expectations due to previous versions TGC,TGC2 & 19 missing the marker of what a good golf game has to be for me. Although they are ok games they did not even come close to simulating the sport.

I will always play a golf game on it’s Simulation settings out of the gate to gauge if I’m going to find I connection to the gameplay & that’s what I did last Friday, literally from the first tee shot I have enjoyed every single round & genuinely find it’s depth of gameplay a shock.
The game content is hollow so do not be thinking I’m in the ‘everything is awesome’ club because there is a ton of room for improvements.
You’d expect a fully fleshed out career mode but they have done their best on a low budget.
You’d also expect a great online component but unfortunately that’s a miss also.
If your happy to be challenged & shoot scores against society leaderboards go buy the game.
If you’re wanting matchmaking & career I’d give it a miss.
