Second that. The difficulty customization is soo deep. For instance, I’ve taken all the swing aids off except like putting grid (I like a clean screen but don’t want the game to be overly difficult for my skill level), put the swing on pro-am to make my own swing errors more manageable and left the cpu difficulty on normal and I’ve got some realistic PGA tour type finishing scores (-15, -11, etc) that I can actually keep up with without having the aids on.

As an avid RL golfer I have always wanted the supreme DESKTOP golf sim that emulates what you do in the real world as a golfer. With some serious imagination as a RL golfer, it would be cool to walk and play a course and monitor what you actually do as a player, and translate that into the basis of a golf sim design. For example, when I approach my next shot in RL golf, I stand behind the ball to assess what type of shot, shot shape, initial line, and so forth. Annika's teacher Pia Nelson's 'Think Box'. After settling on that i go into the 'Play Box', meaning I'm addressing the ball to set up the shot I just created in my head in the Think Box. In a golf sim, this might be done from the first-person view in a sequence similar to what I do: First set the club down and orient the face where I want it relative to my line. Next, open/close my stance, and adjust my stance relative to ball position front/back. I will turn my head and and look down the line. In terms of swing mech, change of direction, speed, tempo, etc all play a role in outcomes. When it's time to hit we go to what this series already does, show the full animation view so you can execute the swing.

On putts, I'd like to see 1st person first squat down to view the line of the putt. Next, walk around to view slope etc. Difficult in a 2D format, but I would strive for readability (enhanced shadowing, subtle other indicators, and a high resolution aid detached from the golfer animation. Rather amazingly TW2004 did this quite well--we used no grid, got down low to view the line of the putt, and used a higher resolution (than what 2019 offers) marker to move side-to-side to assess slope.

Rather than diddling around w/ PGA Tour connections I think the lasting product is one that emulates RL golf the best. Have maybe 5 motioned captured excellent golf swing animations to choose from for your player. Enhanced weather, better course graphics, etc. These are things I feel you can do and build on on a lower budget and stop chasing the PGA Tour connection. EA did it super well, and look what happened there.

How to a pull a club from my bag? I want a four iron instead of a five wood and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to do it.

Press "Swap" (X on PS4) on the club you want to replace. Then, on the next screen, use the shoulder buttons (R1 and L1 on PS4) to switch between club types of find the one you want to put in your bag. Select the club model you want to use, then choose the specific club (in this case, the 4 iron) to put that in your bag.

I'm sceptical about how many people would enjoy this. It seems like it's one step short of having to drive the buggy between holes or actually walk down the fairway after a tee shot.

It'd definitely be cool but I don't think many people would care to play a game like that. I could be wrong though!

I think they should have never gone down the PGA path but I imagine 2k thought it would draw in more casuals.

The swing is better this time around and the results are more realistic. No more slow goes way long right for a RH player now it is short and to the right.

Fast downswing is a shut face pull/hook slow is a push/slice.

Some complain about the putting I like it. The only major problem I am currently having is inconsistent pitch shots.

Graphically the game is much better. For $60 I am more than satisfied but there can be more improvements. Presentation is much better but they can do more work there too.

The part most important to me is setting clubface angle, stance and ball position going to fully impact shot physics. This would be the holy grail model potentiallly for me. If it could be done from first person in a believable yet efficient way, it could work. If not, then implement the same logic, but in a graphic format. After the shot is setup in this way, when it's time to execute you go to the 2nd person perspective as we have now. So really, it's mostly just how to set the physics of the shot up to match the basics of this in the real world. Better weather, improved textures is always a winner. I would love to be able to obtain branded equipment and fine-tune as is done in the real world amongst strong players. Serious golfer sim. New version about every 5y. The company that owns it keeps it as almost a side-line, but over time they can gain recognition as the go-to sim for 'serious' golfers. Update it when the hardware has changed enought to make it worth the effort.

Anybody having an issue with the pre-order Adidas MyPlayer pack saving and staying on your player?

I have downloaded the code twice. Works originally. Save it. Exit the game, go back in and th e outfit resets to the generic out of the box one. The Adidas pack is nowhere to be found.

They have done a bit better this year concerning the loft box. It is not a box per se anymore but you can increase or decrease the amount of loft on the club and you can increase or decrease the amount of spin you want to apply on the shot. Draws and fades are implemented more realistically too.
IF you liked 2019 even a little bit I think 2021 is worth the $60. I look at it this way. IF they ever made the perfect golf game would you ever need to buy another? Just business ya know?

I cant stand the downswing tempo being so random. I will have the same tempo and get three different results. It’s almost impossible to get in a rhythm. Hope this gets fixed in a patch soon. Anyone else having this problem?

I enjoy 19 and see nothing wrong with it.

Give me a brief synopsis of why this game is better.

On which platform are you playing 2K21? There's a patch that may address at least some of this. It's already available for the PS4 and is "coming soon" to the other platforms. I think it's patch version 1.03. I have the game on the XBox One X and I experience what feels to me like inconsistency in the swing results. I'm getting better with it overall, but still have the "where did that come from" reaction to about every sixth or seventh shot.

I picked up the PC version last night after reading a glowing review of it from a friend who has a virtual quantum gaming computer system. He had just bought the XBox One X version yesterday and said he could understand why console owners were squawking about the the swing tempo inconsistency. He's getting a solid 60 FPS on his state of the art gaming computer at 4K and all ultra settings.

My experience was not quite the same as his, on my... what I thought was a halfway decent gaming PC (Intel Core i5-4440 3.1 GHz, Geforce GTX 1070 8 GB, 16 GB PC-1600 DDR3 RAM, Windows 10 64 bit). I had to back down to 1080p, 84% course object detail, and graphics settings all to "High", to maintain a solid 60 FPS. It looks a lot like the stock XBox One version with those settings, albeit at 60 FPS.

Playing the game at 60 FPS definitely yield a more responsive and fluid swing, but my senses are now attuned to a week's worth of play at 30 FPS on my XBox One X. I fooled around with it for about an hour and a half last night and never got much better with tempo regulation, but with the additional feedback made possible by 60 FPS, I could better reconcile what I felt and saw, with what the feedback meter was showing.

I shot a 92 at TPC Boston in Pro difficulty at 60 FPS. No surprise, I'm still trying to get a handle on more fluid feedback and forgetting what I'd learned at 30 FPS. I then played a Society tournament round on the XBox One X, where I'd gone 74 and 75 in rounds 1 and 2, and posted an 85 . My tempo had been altered enough by the 1 1/2 hours of 60 FPS play to where I couldn't feel the swing properly on the One X again.

I've learned that I can't go back and forth between these two worlds. I'll play mostly on the X since that's where most of my friends are, but I'll pick up with my lifetime endeavor to complete my local golf course using LiDAR on the PC.

Loving the game so far but have a couple of issues with the settings and forgive me if this has already been discussed. For some reason, I don’t see the % next to the lie of my ball in the HUD in he top right box and the other one is I can’t get he grid for the ball lie and my stance when on the tee or fairway. I’ve gone through all the settings and can’t for the life of me find where to set these up. If anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it. Glad the putting glitch has been fixed too, that was really annoying!

It's not random, I can intentionally hit a fast or slow swing so there's some logic there. The windows are very tight though.

I can't stress this enough - don't play straight shots. Always shape your shot. Slightly fast or slightly slow is not nearly as punishing when you're playing a draw or fade. Stop worrying about trying to nail perfect timing on every swing. Just don't get into the reds on the swing feedback.

I shot a 3 under on Master level and wasn't even in the top 10 in a society tournament. The gameplay demands that you understand golf strategy and course management. Know which side of the pin is the safe side and play your shot to miss to that side.
