Desperate for putting help

I never played TGC games before, always played EA, but with the pga more involved and my home course in the game I bought it. Most of it is fine, but I literally cannot hit a putt less than 12 feet, which is a problem if you’re 4 feet away. I’ve played 36 holes and only had two where I didn’t have a birdie or par putt, yet I shot 125 and 98. PLEASE any suggestions?

I think this game will require good old practice more than any other golf title released. I also spent a lot of last night overpowering short putts and flubbing things up.

Use the practice swing feature until you are comfortable with your stroke. Helped me alot so far.

I started out using the x button deal that show's the putt preview....not sure if it's available on all levels of difficulty.

The preview is extremely helpful in getting the hang of reading the greens.

My is distance... I will literally hit a 4 foot putt 20 feet. There’s absolutely no feel, and they always want you to hit it with 25-35 percent power. I wish I could just make one smooth stroke like Rory. I’m getting worried because I like the rest of the game. But last night for example I shot 138 and I had par putts on almost every hole.

For me putting is my best part. I can almost always get w/ in gimmie range. First the game presets distances for uphill / downhill. If you use those you will over power the putt. The longer the putt and the more severe the elevation the more the default distance is off. Always pull the marker in. I would start with like 5% see how that works out. Next is tempo .....As slow as you think you can move the stick move it slower. I just go back and forth extremely slow and it seems to work out. I am terrible at the rest of the game, but in my last several rounds I think I only had one 3-putt and it was due to a terrible swing plane on like a 4ft putt. I play on PC so not sure if other systems are different?

I always need to reduce the putting strength every putt. I also have a tendency to overhit putts so reducing the distance gives me some leeway when/if i do hit it to hard.

I am loving the challenge of this game

Putting seems broken to me, can’t seem to get a consistent backswing..it will start then stop several times before I get an actual swing that is way overpowered. Crazy frustrating

Tee to green this game is awesome, usually reach green in or under regulation. Once on the green, will consistently 3 putt (or worse). Putting stroke has no feel, can’t just pull back slow and swing through like I do with 19. Any suggestions?

I'm so backwards from everyone, putting is my strong suit. I'm only on Amateur as I didnt want to swamp myself in horrible rounds being my first golf title in quite a few years. I just can't get my drives down enough to fully want to swap to pro yet....

But I finished Q school -7 and won the first tournament by 11 strokes at -30

I think the putting is awesome! More like real life. Really takes thought and attention to the stroke.
