Do we think that a whole new graphical engine is probably asking too much here?

I have this feeling the new game will be a bit more evolutionary, And a lot of the work with Tiger Woods and all that is more about a whole bunch of new content.

Don’t get me wrong… that should please all of those who love and play this game as is right now.

I think it’s been said that the reason they use the engine they do is because of the course creator. It’s the only engine that it can work on if I’m not mistaken. So I think it’ll either be new engine and they scrap the course creator or go the ea route and full course + playable golfer and no user courses. I think anything is up in the air at this point. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if the only way tiger is integrated IS the course creator.

Honestly, They should go all in on a new engine but also start a course creator from scratch if they must.

Well, I would say there is enough info out there to make it more than a baseless assumption.

They signed Tiger Woods to a multi-year deal, there are devs that list PGA 2K23 on their online professional profiles, and I do know that a designer from the TGCT community was hired as a level/course designer to work on future games in an official capacity: https://twitter.com/SleepyPanda_7/st...18238870147074.

I mean, I guess there's no "official" announcement in terms of 2K flat-out saying "We are making a new game", but the evidence out there sure seems to point that a new game is coming, and if their release schedule holds true, an announcement is probably imminent.

Good points…it would seem like they are doing something..

I will say the Tiger stuff is mostly a "nothing" to me until proven otherwise. Everything they've mentioned about him, especially of late, makes it seem like he's an advisor and lending his name to this much more so than actually being "in the game" or "a new Tiger Woods golf game", etc.

That part should be interesting and I hope to be very pleasantly surprised!
(obviously his injury and recovery may have changed 2k and Tigers plans completely)

My main curiosity is if they are actually making a new game, as opposed to more building on the same game that's out now (with more content and refinement, etc)

I'm really hoping for an all new engine and massive upgrade to visuals for next-gen consoles and high end PCs and something to really build off for the next 4-6 years sort of thing.

I know fans of the current game don't agree with me, but I find the current game to just be "ok" visually... That aspect could be better I think.

It was pre-accident though -- might the scope have changed?

Of course we are assuming he signed a deal in the vein of his EA deals for a full fledged "Tiger Woods PGA Tour", etc

No all good, we're all kind of spit balling but from what I read in his book, there is no chance he was signing on to be some sort of a marketing tool.

I know it won't shock you if you didn't read the book but wanted control of pretty much any aspect of the EA game he could have. It was actually pretty important to him (at the time).

That said - his priorities for obvious reasons have probably changed drastically since those days.
