    EA/2K - Some Ground Rules

Hey all! We are approaching a really exciting time for video game golf.

With two new games coming out soon (?) brings lots of conversations which naturally leads to disagreements at times.

This part of OS is a FANTASTIC community. As someone who peruses almost every part of the site, I can assure you of that.

EVERYONE here wants the same thing which is a great thing.

Let's get everyone on the same page with a couple of things here.

First, no attacking other users. You can argue their point, that's perfectly fine. But going after a person is not okay.

Second, no bashing the developers of the games. It's not necessary and helps us in no way to have any sort of a reasonable conversation. What happens there is 100% out of our control. Let's control what we CAN control.

Third, comparing the two games is OKAY in very LIMITED situations. If you are saying something like you'd like to see 2K does with x what EA does with x, that's okay! It can create incredible conversation when done appropriately.

Saying something like "Why can't 2k do this since EA does" is not okay. That isn't productive (and is a sideways way at taking a shot at devs so see point 2).

It's really about how it's worded. Just re-read your post if you're not sure.

Fourth, remember that we don't all want the same thing with the games and that's okay. Respect others opinions. If someone wants something you don't there is no reason to respond with something like "That's stupid." While we are all here for video game gold, we don't all want the same experience and it's important to respect that.

Fifth, LET'S HAVE FUN! This is a great time.

Can't wait to see our options and what will come with them.

As I said earlier, this an amazing time for us. Let's embrace it.

It's up to us to not turn this into the Madden/2k wars of years past that I've read in history books.

I know this group all respects everyone and will continue to do so.

Let's get ready to Tee it up!

Re: EA/2K - Some Ground Rules

I know this thread was started awhile ago and it was done in preparation for this precise time.

We have one game out and some time to wait yet for the next one.

We're starting to see some cross discussion that hasn't really been constructive one way or the other.

I'm not changing anything I said in the original post, it's perfectly okay to constructively compare games but right now I'm seeing it happen when we only have screens for one game that isn't out compared to a game that is out.

One example I'll give is I think it's perfectly fine to discuss the hypothetical scenario of EA having a course
creator. I like hearing differing opinions on it.

Let's PLEASE just remember that we're all not looking for the same thing for these games. It's okay to disagree.

Be mindful to be respectful and just keep in mind you don't always have to have an opinion on something. I promise, you don't have to post just to post.

If you're an EA fan that's great. Don't go into the 2k thread to crap on it. If you're a 2k fan, no reason to go into the EA thread for the most part since you're set.

If you're like most of us and want whichever game gives the best experience that's great, let's keep conversations aimed around what can we do to make both games the best experience instead of what each game does so wrong.

Leaving open for discussion but not for arguments. I'm not interested in moderating EA/2K wars for golf to be honest.

Re: EA/2K - Some Ground Rules

Honestly what I would love to see because both EA and 2K have great showings this year, I would love to see EA continue with the PGA license and 2K get the LIV license...

2K's depth with created courses is a selling point for so many and hey, some of them are great, but there is no reason why each tour couldn't be sponsored by the two different companies in future outings. That would be a selling point for me.

While I have both 2k and EA's newest horse in the stable, I have already played EA's 60 hours and only had 8 hours of game play on 2K since 12/21, and this is because EA's have deeper career modes, more tournaments, better online play, it's just going to be the one that gets the play time, but if 2K brought LIV onboard, with courses that are played by LIV, LIV tour players, this could be a 50/50 game.

If you keep bowing down and praising the developers, (NHL series) nothing they give us the consumer will ever be a "finished" product. Take a stand, it is your money!!!.
