    2k 2023 Golf Newbie

So I'm new to playing 2k2023 PGA Tour and I play on PS4. My question relates to swing. My swing area has Gray, White, and Red. When I first started playing my timing was off and the swing would be at edge of Red area. I practiced and now I'm in White area and sometimes in Gray area. When releasing in at the edge of the Red area, seems like to the ball goes right of where I wanted to land (this is with no wind). So I compensated aiming left of where I wanted to be. Sometimes the ball would land approximately where I wanted it to and other times it goes way way right even though I compensated for my push right. Does the game sometimes shank your shot even though your timing was correct? Does anyone else have issues with the ball going left or right when you hit?

I am on PS4 as well.

I am assuming this means you have the swing meter on (the curved line that's behind the player's back at address). That's the one with a white, gray, and red section.

That meter really has nothing to do with where your ball goes, left or right...that is a power meter that shows how hard you will hit the ball. The white area is the "perfect" area where you would get 100% power. The gray area is the "OK" area, which will be less than 100%. The red area is the overswing area, where you can get up to 110% power, but will have a harder time hitting it accurately.

The meter that is more related to accuracy is the one at the bottom corner of the screen...the one that's a circle with a white line and two gray lines in the middle of it going vertically, and a curved line above it with gray and white areas. That meter is your tempo feedback meter.

That will show if you hit the ball fast, slow, or perfect. Fasts result in pulled/hooked shots, while slows result in pushed/sliced shots. If you hit a perfect tempo shot, it will go right where you're aiming. That meter also shows your swing plane - how well you push the analog stick up and down. If you miss outside the while vertical bar, you will push or pull the ball, depending on which direction you went outside the line. Also, note that hooking and slicing the ball (having fast or slow tempo) will penalize your distance, as well.

So while you should still be aware of that distance meter behind your player, the circle meter is likely the one that will be more important in terms of getting your accuracy and tempo figured out.
