Re: PGA Tour delayed to April 7th.

Assuming no more delays, this will just barely fit under the $1 for a month EA Play promotion and still cover demoing the game early (for up to 10 hours).

The key is to sign up for the free month of EA Play on Tuesday, March 7th specifically (promo ends on the 8th)

Then the EA play one month for a dollar will get coverage of early release on April 4th .. and expire right as the actual game releases, and then a buyer can decide what to do at that point

Re: PGA Tour delayed to April 7th.

Surely it couldn't be for 60 FPS? Feel like it would've been determined a long time ago whether the game would be capable of it or not and 2 weeks seems like a comically small time frame to be able to make enough changes to acheive it...

But it's the one feature they've actually talked about that's received major blowback on social media, so it's the only thing that makes sense to me. Three-click swing I can't see being that big of a priority it causes a delay of the game VS just updating it in a patch later on.

Suppose Augusta could be at play here too and forcing them to push it back to ensure the course changes are in the game. That just begs the question, why? The course changes have been known for quite some time and it's not like Augusta wouldn't have known what version of the course EA were designing in the first place...

Very odd, wish we could get some more details then what was provided, but I guess it's just something we'll never know

As much as I'm already anxious for this game to come out already, maybe this is a good thing for this delay to fix up more ****.

The game is capable of it (since PC will have it) -- maybe just a bit more time to flesh out the edge cases and ensure the settings are dialed in for performance modes?

I'd imagine that even requires work and testing specific to PS5, XBXX and XBSS individually?

Who knows -- maybe we are way way off here

(not news here, I know - lol)

I have to admit, I read these forums pretty frequently and always thought "This Scagwi guy sure is convinced this EA golf game is a fail".....this despite having seen your initial optimism months ago.

While I still think this EA game will be an enjoyable game, I am getting swayed to share your concerns.

-The video we were shown about courses shows a putt rolling through thick rough pretty much unaffected.
-The swing feedback hud looks like a copy and paste from Rory.
-The ducks in the water at St. Andrews haven't moved in 8 years as you pointed out in the new footage they released compared to Rory Golf.
-Ball physics seem similar to Rory Golf.
            -30FPS
            -No weather
-Dial a distance concerns appear valid--especially for short game and putting based on information so far.

And now a 2 week delay seemingly out of nowhere only a few weeks from launch.

So you are starting to make me wonder if your concerns are valid and we are getting a remastered Rory.

I'm still hopeful that this will be a game that fits what I want from a golf game more than what 2K provides (not that 2K is bad but it just doesn't quite deliver what I want with career mode, real majors, and portraying PGA golf). But I am starting to think I need to lower my expectations.

              @The Brew 101!

Welcome to Scags depression den of lost hope and crushed dreams
              LOL

Joking aside, your list and reasons are all sensible things to consider as data points that lead one to wonder what we will/won't get.

As I'd commented a while back -- I've walked way back off "here comes the best golf game EVER!" ... and now am hoping to simply get "the game Rory should have been .. but on next-gen and PC as a bonus!"

The "remastered Rory" angle makes a lot of sense if you think about what Rory had/didn't have and its limitations ... and then realize how many of those are the same here

(but not the same necessarily as the TW games that preceded it)

I see their Instagram didn't get an announcement ... just a very quiet update to the "available worldwide" date up top ..

Not to be a debbie downer but man this cannot be good. This game is giving me major Cyberpunk 2077 vibes to it with the amount delays that have happened. And if you remember the launch of that game then you could probably understand why I'm very worried now. Someone can correct if I’m wrong but today is March 3rd and the early access was supposed to be March 21st. Doesn’t that mean that the physical copy of the discs were literally about to be shipped out to retailers by next Friday? Having a delay that close to distribution is a major red flag imo.

                    ^^ I agree

Overall, I really just wish they'd targeted great gameplay and performance and "half as many courses at launch", with a strong and real commitment to pushing updates and course content over time on a schedule.

It just seems like a rush (and with a Masters deadline) to have "everything" done at once, is almost certainly going to lead to bugs and lack of polish here.

We've always heard this is a resource constrained title, so the approach they've taken leaves one wondering "why".

I'd so much rather have a massively solid piece of polished and performant gameplay as a platform that they then build content out for over the course of years and years.

If it was because they were adding 60 FPS for launch, wouldn't they be touting that to get some positive spin out of this?

Maybe they are trying to add it...but don't know for sure if they will be able to yet? Either way, by delaying it, it sounds like the new updates to Augusta/other courses will be in then, so there's at least some reason, even if a performance mode/60 fps/3-click swing does not make it in.

A really smart point to make that eluded me totally..

Now you do really have me wondering what they are actually needing more time for here (not a lot of time either....odd)

Ya you have to figure they are going to say something...this is a civil board and it's concerning us, imagine how other forums and twitters or whatever are throwing bad speculation shade on this delay.

This could make sense. They did say they would "Take a look" and TRY to get it in. I just don't see how a month ago they were fairly convinced the game couldn't run at 60 FPS on consoles, at least enough to tell us that it couldn't, and now they seem to think they can achieve it with two extra weeks of development?

I think we're probably just way off thinking this has anything to do with 60 FPS. Most likely has to be some updates on the courses or something else trivial that wouldn't take much time. Just can't see what has changed in the past month that would suddenly make this viable
