I haven't looked into it, but doesn't using the non-default ball also help with the excessive rolling of the ball off the green while putting? When I first played the game I was absolutely terrible at putting compared to PGA2K21, but once I started using the non-default balls, especially the friction ones, it cut down significantly on the three putts.

Maybe they've fixed or changed this, but the ball type plays a big part with putting, no? It seems to play a huge roll with putt weight.

Yes, using a golf ball with a lower roll attribute literally slows the green speeds down.

If it weren't for the friction ball, I wouldn't be playing this game. The default ball has a terrestrial physics defying amount of roll to it. It's not until I get to the friction ball that I find something I can live with. I'm using the level 2 friction ball right now, as it has about 5 more yards of carry than the level 1 friction ball that I'd used until a couple of weeks ago.

I enjoy the putting in this game with the level 2 ball, even though it feels odd to have to buy a ball that rolls less. I'm just glad I have the option to use something that winds up giving as much satisfaction as this does. HB Studios seems to have taken considerably efforts in getting the putting game to reflect the range of outcomes between the ball and the hole. There are so many subtle ways the ball interacts with the lip of the cup and they are consistent with the speed and angle at which the ball approached the hole.

I've only ever used the default ball and while there are a few courses that are very bad for the most part I don't have an issue.
