Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Just another top 10 finish in the KFT at Sawgrass. Rounds of 70, 71, 71, and 68. Round 3 I hit it in the water on 17 for a very costly double bogey.

Dai Hui wins the event at 12 under. We finish tied for 6th with -8 score. Really want to win at least one of the KFT events but it's going to be difficult. Still 9th in the rankings with the withdraw from wolf Creek hurting our chances at number one. Doesn't matter cause we're making the KFT playoffs regardless.

Up next is the Hilton Head Invitational at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Thank you! Haha like you said before, these attributes should be treated as gameplay sliders. And yes I have my putting at 3 currently and I don’t see much of a difference if it was a different number, perhaps it’s because we read the greens well now lol

Oh I still miss and make same amount. I miss inside 15 feet, make outside 20 feet, miss outside 20 feet etc. I just put more on putting just to use skill points lol

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

I feel like I'm the only one here who likes Wolf Creek lol. The 3rd hole is the only one that I don't find fun, the elevation changes are crazy but usually it's not that hard to make the fairway (except for the first par 5 on the back 9, that one's a bit ridiculous). But you have to club down on several holes to make it easier so I can understand people who prefer using driver every time not liking that. It is a wacky course in general.

I finished the 3rd KFT tournament at Riviera, got my first win! I was at -5 after 3 rounds and 4 back of the lead but made a charge late in the fina round front 9 with 3 birdies in 4 holes to get 2 back (-8 me, -10 lead). Then the leader bogeyed a bunch of holes and I found myself with a one stroke lead despite parring every hole, then I birdied 17 and parred 18 to secure the win. 2nd place in the standings, my place on the PGA should be fully secured now. Onto Sawgrass, I'm fearing how hard hitting the 17th will be with my required diagonal swings

Funny you guys mention outdriving everyone at 1 power, I was being solidly outdriven with 2 power in the amateur events and even at 3 power on KFT. I'm at 4 power now and near the top but not there. Maybe it's because my struggles with diagonal swings take off power at times, and I sometimes club down on drives. The AI stats for that are definitely too low though, I think it's tied to AI playing partners always taking ~10% off their drives for some reason. Hopefully they fix that.

Yeah I will not be doing playing partners unless they fix how they play. Haven't got that far to get there yet though.

Wolf Creek just isn't fun is all for me. Not too hard except that 3rd hole is impossible to get birdie it seems. But it's very annoying to have to do math for elevation every single shot. Just not a fun course to play m. I couldn't imagine actually paying real money to play there in real life. I'd never make it through 18 holes that's for sure lol

Well we miss the cut at Hilton Head with a +3 score after two rounds. Quick play hurt me that 2nd round lol. Dropped us down to 11th in the KFT rankings. Banff Springs is next!

We use 3 click so no diagonal swing here. I'm not even sure what that means lol. 3 click, I think it is harder to hit it straight and not over or under swing accidentally than it is using sticks. But it's definitely easier to overswing on purpose for more power. So 0 power for 3 click is really needed. 1 at the very most I can see possible once reaching the pros.

Ah right I forgot you're using 3 click, from my experience with it it is definitely easier to get the power perfect or over. I might try a 3 click career at some point, we'll see.

What I'm doing with the stick swing is forcing me to shape most of my shots, which makes me pull my stick back diagonally on the backswing and then push it to the top center on the downswing, instead of straight back and forward like usual. It's a lot harder, and focusing on the stick movement being right makes getting the power and speed right in tandem also harder. I'm only hitting 60-65% of my fairways with it, which is fairly realistic.

We are in a battle at Banff Springs! Shot rounds of 65, 66, 69, and 65. Came into the final round 3 back of the lead starting on hole 13. A par on 13. I birdie 14 and 15 and only 2 back of lead. Par on 16. On 17 I make an insane 61 foot putt for birdie to put in at -18 and tied for the lead!

18 is a par 5 I birdie fairly easily and go -19. Unfortunately for me Erik Rosenquist also birdies 18 and we are headed to a playoff. I now have to really earn my first career win.

Playoffs I get a par on 16 again. 17 this time a little closer and birdie a nice 17 foot putt! Onto 18 we are both tied still at 1 under as he also birdied 17. I birdie the hole while Rosenquist does not. We WIN for the first time in our career finally! Up to 4th in the rankings after that win with only one event left at Bandon Dunes before the KFT playoffs.

What is realistic FIR%? I'm at 77% now, but everyone else is 81-84% range. Idk if I'm just low or they're too high. I feel like I miss the fairways a realistic amount but maybe not. Even when I miss the game still doesn't penalize you enough anyway, even with recovery at 0. I have to assume that will be patched with the next patch they release.

According to these stats from this year, the best players hit about 70% of their fairways, and 60-65% would be around middle of the pack: https://www.pgatour.com/stats/detail/102

I think EA knew that without house rules fairways (and greens to an extent) were easier to hit in this game so they jacked up the AI FIR and GIR percentage to match likely player numbers. I wouldn't pay too much attention to them.

Great way to play the game but without EA setting Advanced shot shaping on all shots as compulsory it’s a wasted mechanic. Great for local play but I want this game mode online.
EA have zero interest on even putting up any Sim tournaments. One in the last month has shown that Arcade,Pro & Tour is the main focus.

After winning the Masters, I wanted so badly to win the grand slam. At the PGA Championship, Sam Burns played out of his mind down the stretch and pushed it to -11 while I was at -8. I got birdies on two of three holes to reach -10. On the final hole, I unleashed a putt which I thought was going in. I missed by inches and tapped in for 2nd place. The grand slam will have to wait a season.
