Gave it a shot and it's not so bad at all really. I'll keep it and see what happens. Can always drop drive accuracy later if needed. One thing the hard swing difficulty created was very very difficult chip and pitch shots now. My first chip shot on hard I wasn't ready and overswung by 7% cause the guage moved so fast lol. Once I got used to it though I was fine.

I thought the first round of KFT playoffs was going to be full round 18 holes. But apparently, at least the first two rounds are still considered a "regular event" and stuck with a quick play at TPC Boston. Might as well just quick play at Quail hollow as well now.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Phew, what a final round again for me here at TPC Boston. Came in with the lead by one stroke at -13. Quick play has me play holes 14-18. We are tied for the lead at 16 under par.

I par 14, 15, 16, and 17. The wind was very difficult to manage. Really had to save par on 16 and 17. Hole 18 is a par 5, but m 2nd shot over shoots the green. Then my 3rd shot is a poor pitch shot that doesn't make it up to the green. I somehow get lucky and chip in a birdie at 18 to WIN the tournament. What a way to begin the KFT playoffs!

We jumped up the rankings to first now after our second win of the season. Up next is the Charlotte Championship at Quail Hollow Club. Definitely earned our PGA Tour card, but now I want to win the KFT title.

Glad it’s working out and yes chips and pitch shots are really fast because it’s on Hard, kind of wished there was a separate speed but I’ve gotten used to it and you can always click on the downswing on the meter instead of the upswing fast.

I found it being too slow and easy on Normal 3-Click Driving so with it being on Hard, there’s an added challenge of not able to hit the perfect shot all the time because of the speed of the 3 Click unless you are really really concentrating.

Man Quail Hollow us not easy for me! Rounds of 71, 70, 71, and 70 lol. Finished 2 under and 14th place. What's crazy is we're up to 1st in the rankings still. Up next is the KFT Championship at Pebble Beach.

I'll for sure play all 18 holes here. Final round I had to put swing difficulty back to normal. The driving is fine on hard. But approach shots, and any pitch, blast, or chips are just not fun and super annoying. I'll eventually drop my driving accuracy back to 0. But only enough currency to lower to 4 right now. I wish there was a driving only swing difficulty I could leave on hard, while my approach/recovery shots could stay on normal. Could switch it to normal after my drive off tee I guess but that's annoying lol.

So difficult to say or know if I should lower approach accuracy or control. We'll see how it feels with 4 full rounds at Pebble Beach first.

Accuracy at 0 and Driving difficulty on Hard would be torture for me lol. Any slight mistime would send the ball flying out of bounds. I had Accuracy at 0 and Driving on Normal prior but it was still too easy to time.

I’m loving the difficulty on Hard but don’t want to experience too much frustration if I mistime the Click hence why I have Accuracy at 9 personally.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Messed around with skill points after reading other threads here - what I went for is lowering power from 7 to 5 (I want power drive because it can be quite inaccurate so great for risk and reward shots)

Also I put a lot of points into control so I can shape shots better, took a couple of points off putting and recovery I believe, anyway I'm down from 84 overall to 82 which is definitely going to help the balance with the AI scoring.

Honestly I haven't felt overpowered since I first turned a lot.of the aids off, but having 10 or so less yards off the tee is definitely making the game harder.

US Open time and a first round of 69 (-1), with I think 6 birdies, 3 bogeys and a double.

Second round was pretty bang average, made the cut but was a 2 over 72 on the Friday. My driving and iron play has let me down a lot, Brookline is a pretty tough course.

Note: if it wasn't for my putting bailing me out big time I definitely would have missed the cut

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Idk if the game glitched or what, but it didn't let me play all 18 holes for the KFT Championship. As much as I love quick play it would be nice to play full rounds at any point during a tournament. Would be cool to quick play rounds 2 and 3 only.

Anyways, second round of 75 killed any chance to win. Rounds of 68, 75, 70, and 68 with a final score of -4 and finished 9th. Onto the pros!

Looking at schedule, what does OWGR mean? Have lowered drive accuracy to 0 and it works better for me. I missed fairways at Pebble Beach with it. Power is at 1 and felt that it was fair to have a just a tad bit more power.

I'll do quick rounds for regular events only. Going to give the playing partners a shot, but probably turn that off eventually.

OWGR is the world golf rankings, just like they do them irl.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

3rd round at the US Open yielded an even par 70 to keep me at even par. Leader was -7 but is now -5 so actually still in the hunt going into the final round.

My irons and wedges have been all over the place recently, so I'll have to do something pretty special to be challenging for my first major title.

I do think that if I cut out the stupid decisions I could probably shoot 3 or 4 under so it would depend on what the leaders do.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

Well my first two tournaments in the PGA Tour were up and down to say the least. First career tournament at PGA West I shot rounds of 70, 68, 70, and 67. Finished tied for 5th with a -13 score. Tyrrell Hatton wins.

Second week at Torrey Pines was completely different. Shot first round 74 (+2). And I eagled 18 on a crazy luck pitch shot from over 40ft to get that. Second round was more of the same. Another 74 round and we miss the cut with +4 score, tied for 86th. Taylor Pendrith wins by three strokes with a -14 score.

Up next is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am. So I set it to full rounds before starting. We'll see if it actually lets me. Going to make a rule where if I miss a cut I have to play all four rounds full 18 on regular events. Always full for majors and playoffs of course.

Side note. Power at one I have the longest drive on tour with 331yds lol. They really need to fix the low driving distance by the AI.

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour: How is your Career Mode going?

I just had the best video golf experience of my life, after playing 2k21/3 almost every day, and now this game every day since it came out.

FedEx Cup playoffs, first tournament at Southwind. Played well all 4 rounds including a best ever for me on this game, 9 under. Going back and forth with Cameron Young the entire tournament for the lead. I'm up one going into the 4th round.

Tied with 5 to go, I found the water yet again for a double bogey while he parred. So down 2 on the 16th, I holed the longest shot I've ever made in any golf game, 228 yards with a 3 wood for eagle. I almost jumped through the ceiling. I birdied 17 and 18 and walked away with it at 22 under. So so much fun.

It bumped me from 43 to 10 in the standings going into the BMW. And gave me 5x more rewards of all kinds than any previous tournament.

Just thought I'd share. It's stuff like this that keep us coming back, along with the frustration and torture when things don't go right. That's what makes winning so much fun, when you don't do it all the time because you've completely maxed out every spec and win almost everything in sight.

When I was down 1 stroke to start 17 and I made that 62 foot birdie putt I definitely got pretty excited on that. So I definitely get what you're saying lol. The game is truly outstanding. Excited to see what it becomes after a patch or two.

Welp, didn't win the US Open. 2 over final round and 2 over for the tournament, winner was Tyrell Hatton on -7. Found a lot more fairways but once again my irons were garbage and it meant I was always scrambling instead of being in with a chance of any kind of decent putting opportunities.

First round in New Zealand complete and this is a fun course, you can tell it takes inspiration from a lot of different courses. A 63 put a smile on my face after a challenging major, leading by two after Thursday's efforts.

Side note, I degraded a few of my stats before the US Open and I've accidentally eliminated my Texas Wedge so I need that back pronto 😂

Ya the Texas Wedge is a must. Beyond that there's really no reason to bump the putting any higher.

My first full season is now over. After winning the opening round, I was even at the BMW and 3 under at East Lake. I never play well at East Lake. With all of the time I spent with 2k21/23, getting to the point where I was always in first place going into the championship (after winning many tournaments in the season over and over), I would inevitably get to East Lake and lose. I only won the FedEx cup 2 times in 2k lol.

I'm going to hold off on starting a new season until I see what's coming out this week.

Play a couple rounds a week on the medium settings and won the Amateur British, missed the cut at Masters and finished top 10 at USA Open then won the Q score course. Thinking it was a bit too easy, but playing Whistling Straits and thought it was a pretty tough course finishing at one under or so, but the winner was minus 19. Thinking this was strange, I looked up the last tournament there and the actual winner was 6 under in the US open. So I think the AI scoring is a bit off on this one.
