Some more info on ranked seasons:

All previous ratings have been reset. You need to play in 5 placement matches to get a ranking. You get a green fitting as a reward for getting a rank. There are also participation rewards...you get 3 sleeves of green-level consumable golf balls for playing 25 holes. I assume rewards get better the more you play.

Played Spyglass Hill 4 times yesterday...it's clear they have taken feedback following the disappointing release of Pebble Beach and put some effort into this course.

The environment is quite nice, and technical work is so much better than any of the official courses they've done in the past. Word has it that they actually let the community designer that 2K hired to join HB, SleepyPanda, develop and build Spyglass. It definitely shows.

Very nice job on this course I agree. Not sure about that snow though but aside from that the trees and general planting looked great better than what EA is putting out there. Just my opinion. Augusta of course is a special case.

I think the "snow", which seems to be a sandy unique theme that I haven't seen before (PLEASE LET ALL DESIGNERS HAVE THESE THINGS, HB...THANKS), works alright in terms of getting the dune-sy look of Spyglass Hill in the areas closer to the ocean. It's definitely not perfect, but it does the trick. Here's real-life Spyglass for reference:

I think the issue is that the mid-day lighting they always use as the default makes everything too bright, and the sand ends up looking like "snow" in the game. I played Spyglass at both dawn and dusk, and the environment looked much better.

The fairways look like fairways and not 1" long rough, lol.

The trees and the general planting look a heel of a lot better. Take a good look at the overall look of the trees shrubs and grasses on any of the EA courses. Except Augusta which they took good care to try to replicate as close as possible. I am sure there are other decent looks on some of the other courses but overall I think 2k just looks more real to me. Forget about all the other visuals. I must be missing something I don't know.

Ea to me kinda overdid the graphics it an attempt to show them off. Sometimes less is more.
