Have to admit it's good that they are still working on adding features that have been in every golf game for 30 years lol. At least they haven't abandoned us. Yet.

What about actual modes of play in private online matches?

Did that already get added to and I missed it?

I need private online turn by turn match play

Getting closer to that it sounds like?

Sounds like that will be coming in the next "major patch", per today's patch notes. The underlined part of the initial post in this thread is taken verbatim from the patch notes, and it says they will be adding "turn-based match play for online and private match modes".

No specific timeline has been given for that next patch, but we do know that another course will be added next month, in time for the BMW Championship (which takes place Aug. 17–20). Would be no later than that, I'd assume.

Also, I saw on Twitter that this was posted in-game today:

Sorry for a double post, but it looks like EA didn't correctly incorporate the internal OB that everyone is talking about in the leadup to the actual Open Championshp.

ApexHound played a round at Hoylake, and he hit one right off the 18th tee...that area should be OB:

Are challenges broken? I’ve tried a few today and didn’t earn any stars. For example, I did the Nike one making long putts. The tracker now says 0/4, 0/6, 0/8 instead of not keeping track. Each putt I made stayed at 0 and didn’t earn a star. Tried another Nike. Close approach. Landed 3 within the 10 feet. 0/3 registered, no Star. Tried a Calloway challenge, same bs. Also played 18, my Xp said I played 14 holes. Played the daily. Nothing registered. What’s going on? Patch bugs or me?
I restarted the ps5 and tried cobra challenge, no stars earned. Tried a U.S. women open moment, no stars earned.

Yes, I'm seeing this on other forums, the patch has apparently broken everything about earning XP points, logging tournament results, taking coins to enter a tournament and then not letting a player actually play the tournament, etc. Major issues with this patch apparently. People are severely ranting.

I get it that anytime a patch for any game is released it can cause unforeseen problems, but honestly I don't understand how they can release a patch that has apparently caused so much havoc for everyone. One would think that before they release a patch, they would test it with many people for a few hours at least? Is that how this usually works or am I just making an incorrect assumption here?

The issues with this patch are so blatant, and apparently affecting everyone. Wouldn't it be safe to assume that even if they only tested the patch with a handful of people "at the office" that it would be immediately obvious to them what everyone else is experiencing?

I have been reading about the patch, new course, etc. throughout the day and was looking forward to firing up the PS5 and give it a go, but this evening after reading all of the issues people are having, I'm going to wait until things are resolved before I even try to play. I'm happy that EA is still engaged with this game and are working on the major things we've all been asking for (and should have been in the game at launch), but it seems this particular patch is a mess.

I played a round in my career post patch and all seemed okay. I’m at the point where XP comes pretty slowly ( my golfer is a 79) and I’m fine with that since the game challenge is just about perfect for the difficulty settings I’m using. So I may not have noticed if XP stuff is bugged.

However the thing that really stood out to me was that EA said they are working on ‘one round tournaments in career mode’. That is not what we are asking for; we want the number of rounds to be *configurable*, not just 1, 4 or quick rounds.

I personally like playing four rounds but if I were to change that it would be to 2 or 3 not 1.

I actually did the Nike challenge last night as well, plus a few others. I had no issues getting the stars when I earned them.
And I do like that they now list how many of each item you have (ex- 1/3 Landed on Green).
