EA Sports PGA Tour Patch Notes 7.0 - Ryder Cup Update

EA has released the patch notes ahead of tomorrow's Ryder Cup Update:

It includes all the stuff we saw in the ApexHound video, but there are a couple noteworthy updates outside of the Ryder Cup stuff:

- There have also been some improvements to the zoom camera. The low-view putting zoom camera’s accuracy has been improved and can now be moved all the way back to the ball, allowing you to read the entire putt without changing your aim location. The zoom camera now smoothly transitions between zoom camera heights without resetting its orientation, providing a more immersive and less disorienting experience.

- New items will be rotating through the store including:
Official Team USA and Team Europe clothing and bag sets
Nelly Korda Signature Series Specs
Cobra AeroJet “Volition” Driver
Brooks Koepka’s Scotty Cameron Putter
Patrick Cantlay’s Scotty Cameron Putter
New gear from Scotty Cameron, Jordan, and Nike

- New cosmetics available in Challenge rewards:
G/Fore Hats
Titleist colored golf balls
Under Armour shoes
TaylorMade clubs

- XP Boosters are a new consumable item that allows players to earn XP at an increased rate for a fixed amount of time. Boosters will only be available in the store at limited times during the season.

And some other funny notes, continuing the tradition of dropping some silly ways of describing updates:

- Updated golfer etiquette so that they no longer leave their ball in the cup after holing out in a multiplayer match.

Not bad, the camera changes look good and are a nice surprise. Now if they can just figure out a way for the low camera to be usable underneath overhanging trees, that one has made some putts (i.e. Torrey Pines 16th) a huge pain.

Hoping their note about the Event Results leaderboard in career mode does fix it for every tournament cause that one really annoyed me. In my experience it happened after every tourney I played, not just ones I skipped. And same for the playoff crash fix, that one has been pretty bad. Hoping the glitches this patch inevitably creates aren't too bad... lol.

Beefy update. Just wish they can fix the broadcast cameras. they have a behind the green one that sometimes triggers post shot, so it’s in the game just can’t trigger during gameplay? it’s 2023 and we still can’t get true broadcast cameras in a golf game?

Also awesome we can play the Ryder cup at previous venues. Looking forward to seeing Oak Hill with the Ryder Cup branding.

Downloading the update now...it clocks in at 2.867 GB on PS5.

EDIT - Ok, fully downloaded. Ryder Cup theming is cool. Don't have time to play a full round before work, so I popped into the Ryder Cup Challenges. Looks like there's quite a few to do from 1991, 1995, 1999, and 2020/21.

Also looked in the Store...lots of new goodies in there now, too, including some TaylorMade golf balls that hadn't been in the game so far, I believe. Lots of things that were in there before have been removed, too, and it looks like certain items will be cycling out every 24 hours.

I will also say that some of the items they dropped in there can only be purchased with the "green" currency, which is the one you have to pay real money for. Brooks Koepka's putter was one, and another was the infamous Ryder Cup Team USA uniform polo from 1999:

Hmm I hope they don’t keep that green paid currency requirement for items cause I don’t think that should ever be a requirement for in-store items. I remember that being an unintentional error in a past patch that they fixed later to allow using RP to buy.

Playing an offline singles match play round as my created player, repping Team USA. You can also choose from the real-life pros who are on the US team, like Cantlay, Spieth, or Schauffele.

Your only options for opponents are two AI-controlled players named "Europe". Disappointing.

I will say, I think Marco Simone looks pretty solid in the game. I like the cool environmental things, like the crowd chants, the church bells ringing, and other nice touches, too.

I have been waiting for this patch almost as much as the one that fixed Turn Play. I am having a BLAST playing single and especially 2v2 online Match and Stroke play. Having the extra pressure to perform with a partner is fantastic. Alternate Shot is sooo much fun.

I'm not hearing any of the chanting or crowd enhancements yet, but the bells are definitely a nice touch on Marco Simone, the uniforms and branding is very nice.

Very welcome patch, I'm going to be playing a LOT.

Had "USA, USA, USA!" chants and "EUR-OPE, EUR-OPE, EUR-OPE!" chants in my singles offline match. That said, it only happened on the first tee, and on the last green before the final putts of the match.

Heard USA several times when playing at oak hill.

Can't say it enough, I'm having sooo much fun with Foursome Alternate Shot play online. It's like a whole new "game within a game". I've played 6 already today, and other than people dropping out on the last hole a couple of times, it's really my favorite mode. Challenging, nerve wracking, pressure, etc.

I can't wait to get my buddy to join me on a team to play this way instead of with a stranger, which is still a blast.

You're right, I think that's obvious. It adds so much to the game. I can't imagine playing Career Mode alone any time soon with these new Ryder Cup online options. So much more drama.

Got to get a full look at the shop for the first time (hope the irl money-only items are an error cause stuff like that should be kept to the pro pass only imo), FINALLY there are new belts and belt buckles available beyond the generic ones we got from the start. I have no idea why it took 5 months to be able to buy any more of those.

Can't say it enough, I'm having sooo much fun with Foursome Alternate Shot play online. It's like a whole new "game within a game". Played my first Foursomes match online just now...and I totally agree with all this! The Ryder Cup theming and crowds just add to the tension and excitement. This adds some much-needed interest to the online side of this game.

EDIT - was looking through the challenges related to past Ryder Cups. The last one at Oak Hill requires you to try to replicate the two holes-in-one that happened there back in 1995...and one of the star requirements is to actually make a hole-in-one...wow.
