Re: EA Sports PGA Tour New Update File 4/2 ver. 1.000.020
Forgive me for my optimism, but I really feel like this update gives this game new life. But that’s because I don’t play online and only play single player. These new courses make career mode more enticing to get to the next season, and having Jack Nicklaus and the new majors allows me to play the majors between all the players in the game. If this update was for anyone, it was for me. So, thanks, EA! That being said, I look forward to 2K25 too!There... are... four... lights!Comment

Yes I can see how this update would especially bring new life to career mode players.
I like what they did, there's a lot to like, but to scagwi's and others point, we all know the top 3-5 glaring gameplay issues that simply have to be fixed, whether it's with an update to this game (the Live Service method), or if they release a new game next year.
I don't need to list the issues again...everyone knows what they are.
And I've said it before, if 2k is going to stick with the Unity engine for their next release, I don't care what they add or change, it's dead on arrival for me.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour New Update File 4/2 ver. 1.000.020
With all this year's major courses already dropping, I'd actually enjoy seeing them focus on getting more "bucket list" courses in the game. Since they did launch the game with resort/exclusive destinations like Tara Iti, Teeth of the Dog, Banff Springs, Wolf Creek, Bandon Dunes, etc., I'd love if they'd get some more of these in future updates.
I may be a homer, but all the Sand Valley courses would be awesome, especially Lido, which is actually going to host USGA events in 2026 and beyond.
More of the Bandon courses would be great, too. Other places like Cabot St. Lucia (Point Hardy), Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs, Streamsong...I'd love to have these stunning courses recreated in this game.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Curious which exact video you're referring to where he "jumps the shark". I tried to watch the one that he did right when this update dropped, and I just had to stop, he just makes me nervous and uneasy.Comment

He started a new career mode with "Charlie Woods" in the Korn Ferry Tour. Not sure how I feel about that, either.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour New Update File 4/2 ver. 1.000.020
This patch is absolutely amazing and a huge surprise! For me this puts this game in the A tier for all the golf games i’ve played. Career mode now having 3 courses to rotate at the other 3 majors besides The Masters makes the replayability go up significantly in the mode. There’s still a few things that could make the game better like improving gameplay, adding more real life golfers and letting every course that has hosted a major before be able to host a major in career mode like Chambers bay at the us open and Quail Hollow at the pga. If they were to do that then the game would be in the GOAT tier for me personally at point. I would be able to play the game for basically forever.
I also want to reflect on how grateful i am for this game. I remember when i first joined Operation Sports because i just wanted to talk about Tiger 14 and how excited i was for that game. The game ended up being fantastic but i was never able to get the DLC for that game so i always felt like i missed out. Then Tiger 15 got cancelled and i was disappointed. A year passed and then Rory came out and then i was even more disappointed because that game had a lot of potential but never reached it. After that there was the barren years of no game for such LONG time and that was really rough. Then 2k brought back Triple A Title golf games and its been up from there. Its been a hell of a journey. So after all that to now be able to experience really good golf games again makes me so happy.Last edited by Btj98; 04-05-2024, 08:00 AM.Comment

Re: EA Sports PGA Tour New Update File 4/2 ver. 1.000.020
I agree, this game is so close to being great.
I understand I posted this a few times but I guess I keep doing so just hoping they address it. This game really only needs 2 things in my opinion and both seem like easy things to do in my mind:
1) Slightly raise all rough and sand penalties. I'm not a programmer but it would seem like this should be such a simple thing. Instead of them being 93-99%, have them 83-89% for example.
2) My biggest ask is to make the swing stick harder to hit straight shots. I struggle to hit straight shots in 2K23. On this game I think in calm conditions I could hit close to 100 out of 100 perfectly straight drives (not accounting for any RNG). I see the same on videos of people playing the game. It is just way, way too easy to hit it straight. I don't know if there is a technical reason it is like this (is it frame rate issue?) or simply design choice. If not a technical issue I just keep hoping they add a difficulty level. No need to change it for those who like it. Just add a level where is line is extremely thin or the stick has more polling points or something so that you see fades/draws/hooks/slices. Make me fear #17 at Sawgrass. If no wind, every shot goes straight (unless RNG kicks in).
It really shocks me that people aren't screaming for this. When I check forums here or Reddit it seems like nobody seems to care they can hit every shot straight. I don't understand that. That isn't golf. Ben Hogan, one of the all time greats, said he hit about 5 shots per round exactly how he intended. Now the others were often only slightly off which is why he was great, but the point is golf is about managing your mi****s. You want to feel rewarded when you execute a shot. With this game there isn't that satisfaction as everyone can hit it straight 90% (or more) of the time. I don't think it is a technical issue because if I diagonal swing I can intentionally hook and fade. So the ability for the game to have these types of shots are there. You just have to go to such and extreme motion on the stick to get there.
Sorry for another rant. It just frustrates me that they created a game with so much great content, a great looking game, and a game that plays almost good.....but then they made it such that it is so easy to hit it straight.
There are other things that could improve the game too but if they could just somehow address the 2 items above it would just make the game so much better in my opinion.Last edited by TheBrew101; 04-05-2024, 09:53 AM.Comment
