    Questions about 2k23

I've been playing EA Sports PGA Tour and enjoying it a lot. I noticed PGA 2k23 is on sale on the Xbox store now and I'm wondering if I should buy it. The reviews on the store are very negative but most feature 2 complaints. The first being no story to the career mode, which I don't really care about. I just want to play through events and earn gear and levels and whatever else for my player. The second is about lag during the swing that messes up the shot. This one is far more concerning to me, but I'm wondering if those issues are for Series S users as I have a Series X.

Another question I have is about courses. One of the main attractions of this game for me would be the course designer and the ability to download courses. Can I download a user created course and swap it in to an event in career mode? Or are user created courses only for like quick play?

Finally, what are the coop options for this game? I have a friend who is interested in the game, and I know it's a long shot but a coop career mode would be pretty sweet if we could both control our own golfers in the same universe.

I have the game for PS5, and have very little lag at any point.

Career mode in 2K23 is pretty bare bones. There are rivals and sponsors that let you unlock gear and things, but that's it. User created courses cannot be used in career mode...you are stuck using 2K official ones, although some of the official courses are fictional ones made by the better designers in the community. You can swap out certain events host courses, but many are locked in. For example, the fake US Open is held every year at Pinehurst, and it cannot be swapped out.

Created courses can be used in local quick rounds, as hosts for events in societies, etc. Unfortunately, they are not at all useable in the game's career.

There is no co-op career, either.

Didn't see this reply until now, but I appreciate the info. I ended up not getting the game on that sale. Hopefully the next 2k game adds some of that functionality. Career mode would have so much more variety and replayability if we could swap out different courses for events so it's not the same course every year.

I don't expect them to add co-op career but that would be pretty awesome too.

Just to clarify...there are some events that do allow you to swap courses in career mode. However, the only courses you can choose from are "2K Official" ones. So there is some potential variety, but not as much as if they'd allow use of user-created courses.
