    Re: TGL Golf

Proving once again that people love watching Tiger swing a golf club (no matter the circumstances).

      Re: TGL Golf

I've enjoyed what I've seen from TGL so far as well. Frankly, I was all for it when they announced it though I wasn't sure how well it was going to do. And I too watch golf mostly for the courses with their beauty and history. Made me begin sort of falling in love with course design and such.

Also know what you mean, pietasterp. Years ago, I had put poll somewhere asking golf fans if they'd rather

      A. Watch Tiger play by himself on the course

      B. Watch all of the golfers play (including Tiger) like we do now

And more people chose the A option (although not a ton of votes, mind you). They say nobody has had a bigger impact on their sport than Tiger and that is most definitely the case.
      NBA: Chicago Bulls

      NFL: Chicago Bears, Atlanta Falcons

MLB: Chicago White Sox (pray for me)

College: Northwestern, UIC, Notre Dame, Alabama, College of DuPage

Football (Soccer): Chicago Fire and Liverpool

I don't watch golf but randomly saw this.

Is this basically like a combination of eSports mixed with real life golf/golf simulator while having it in an arena for fans to watch?

I think that's basically it, in a nutshell.

I watched last night. If there is nothing else on, it's moderately entertaining. I'd be surprised if they're able to keep their numbers up over the long term when Tiger isn't playing, but that's their issue to address. For me, if there's nothing on and I'm surfing the internet, I'll probably turn it on as background. But I can't see it ever being 'appointment television'.

I don't think it'll ever overtake main golf, but I wonder if they'll ever be able to have an "alternative" where it's like a much shorter/faster paced version of golf for people who prefer that instead.

Yes, I think that's what they're going for. A little looser, a little rowdier, less formal, kind of stripping away the "gentleman's game" aspect of it, which some find stuffy.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Apparently Tiger Woods is taking part

Tiger Woods is returning for Tuesday's TGL match, his first action since the death of his 80-year-old mother, Kultida, on Feb. 4.

OK, I will admit I laughed my rear-end off when Kisner thinned it out of that bunker and hit the flagstick. And to do it in front of your peers (one of which happens to be Tiger...) and a live audience is just the icing on the cake. Seeing the other guys - major champions and accomplished PGA Tour stars - laugh their butts off at Kiz was legitimately funny. I admit I laughed and watched the replay multiple times. If you don't know what I'm talking about:

And then karma got Tiger back with this hilarious brain fart:

It's amusing for what it is when they're just laughing at each other.
