From this review it appears they are trying to build in more elements of a real golf swing into their new Evo swing which sounds great. Graphics look great and nice to be able to hit canned stingers etc.

We can see that there is a diagonal swing...but it seems it's only at certain difficulty levels. Does it only happen when trying to shape draws and fades, or do you always need to angle the swing path? And how do you "level up" to get the stinger shot and such, as it looks like you progress through a skill tree to do so? Just things like that...no one knows exactly for sure how it all works.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 01-26-2025, 11:20 AM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

I would assume that's the case. No more huge draws/fades with just a simple up and down motion. Which I am fine with. The swing mechanics need more depth to them.Comment

Definitely looks good and I think Gamer Ability is probably onto what the swing components mean, but we don't have actual confirmation on that. Any videos out there on the swing and the changes to how the game plays are speculation, since 2K hasn't actually said what the new Evo Swing truly means.

For the shots in the trailer with a slanted diagonal swing (i.e. the slice on 17th at Sawgrass), I think adding draw and fade to your shot may make you have to bring back your stick at more of an angle but still finish at the same contact point as a straight up swing. I like the sound of that on paper.NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

This is all speculation of course - but the more and more I've looked at the gameplay trailer, the more confident I get that forced diagonal swings on most shots regardless of shot shape will be a thing. The second shot in the trailer, the one in the bunker, you can see the player is only adding loft to the shot yet it's still a diagonal swing. Unless changing loft makes a swing diagonal which it never did in any previous EA golf games, I think this is a strong indication of forced diagonal swings similar to Advanced shot shaping in TW14. No idea what difficulties it would be a thing on tho, hopefully Pro and higher.

A bit more of a look at what's included in the Legend Edition:

As long as the game provides the option to turn them off for single player or society events I think it could be a good design choice.NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Trailer, Screenshots, Features and More Revealed
One swing they showed in the gameplay trailer for the "Pro" difficulty - where the guy shanked his ball into the water at TPC Sawgrass' No. 17 - had the diagonal swing on, and "Pro" was the default ranked matchmaking difficulty in PGA 2K23.
So I'll be very interested to see if the default ranked setting is again "Pro", and the diagonal will be set to on in those matches. Would really make a 3-Click/Swing Stick separation a must if they do that. And that was a big discussion point about 2K23 without a diagonal aspect to the swing.
It'll also be interesting to see what the big societies (TGCTours, for example) do with the swing, should the default be to have to swing diagonally. Considering they use "Master" difficulty in 2K23, and "Pro" is a step below that in challenge.
Would be really nice to have some specifics about the new swing here, sometime soon...Orbis Non SuficitComment

They say included in that Legends version are "cosmetic" golf balls. Did they call them that last time? I thought they were referred to as consumable golf balls? Maybe it doesn't make a difference but curious if that means they don't do anything this year and are nothing more than cosmetic? One could hope😊#WeAreUKComment

Unfortunately, it does seem that consumable golf balls are back in 2K25, based on one of the screens shown in the last trailer:
"Consumable Balls" are mentioned in the upper left hand of the screen.Orbis Non SuficitComment
