Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Trailer, Screenshots, Features and More Revealed
It’s still a good game regardless even with all its quirks & shortcomings. I just want the new game to be a big step up but don’t look that way at the moment.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Trailer, Screenshots, Features and More Revealed
The big step up are going to be graphics and 3 official Majors for career mode. For others, it will be cross-platform societies, weekly and daily tournaments. For those creating courses, HB is giving them more options to make better courses. Game play wise, I don't expect much changes. Maybe another tweak here and there.Comment

Graphically comparing 2k23 & 2k25 trailers there really isn’t a big step up:

Here's Tiger Woods and his caddy in the 2K23 trailer - note the "plastic" arms and just lack of detail:
Here's Tiger in 2K25's trailer:
Here's a golf ball close up in 2K23 - everything just looks "flat":
Here's 2K25 - more shine to the ball and the detail in the reflection on the iron (clubs in 2K23 didn't look at all like that)...and there's an on-course marshal, which 2K23 didn't have either:

Frankly, courses could NOT look like this in 2K23...fescue textures like this did not exist, and planting grasses would not give you this great of a look:

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Trailer, Screenshots, Features and More Revealed
2K23 already does many things better in their gameplay that I didn't like in EA's game (the swing not being so forgiving, more punishing lies, not moving your ball away from bushes and pot bunker lips, etc.) but I'd like to see a few other elements tackled that I think EA did better in their game:
- Make courses play much more varied, i.e. links having much more roll and shorter rough, ocean courses having less roll.
- Increase the visual prominence of hills and green breaks, I've never liked that the game relies on green grids to determine break even at competitive levels, from what I've seen from gameplay without the green grid it's too difficult to read break. EA's visual prominence made reading greens in Sim difficulty so much fun (if you didn't use the bird's eye cam as a replacement when they added it).
- Improve ball roll physics off the green, there's the "sticky/velcro fringe" the games have had that prevents balls from rolling too far off the green or on the green from the fringe/fairway or rolling down fairway hills. I did see more roll off the greens at Pinehurst in 2K23 so maybe it's more of a problem with created courses.
- Wind needs to affect how much the ball rolls so that high winds are more of a challenge to play in! EA may have overdid it in their game but you could really feel the relative difficulty playing in high winds.
- Some introduction of the diagonal swing plane to make fades and draws tougher (somehow, I doubt this will be added).
Dynamic weather throughout a round would also be great, the game seems to already have dynamic winds so this would be the next logical step. The mention of roll physics in the reveal article gives me some hope on the course dynamics and wind side, not holding my breath on the others though.NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Trailer, Screenshots, Features and More Revealed
Really need 2K25 to fix the awful drop mechanics that all previous 2K/TGC games had.
Hoping the career mode updates pay off...really looking forward to more info on the "pre-tournament events" and trainings.
Also, in the features page, there's this mention: "Expect regular PGA TOUR Superstore drops, as well as updates to events, challenges, and Quests."
I am hoping these challenges/Quests are cribbed from EA, where you could do all kinds of one-off challenges based on real golf, or quests that can gain you additional VC as you play the game and reach certain objectives on a daily or weekly basis, and specific course objectives, too.Last edited by MrArlingtonBeach; 01-16-2025, 02:59 PM.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Some improvement all round but not much in my opinion although Portrush looks good I’m not sure designer’s will be able to recreate a similar look. I recall renaissance bunkering being exclusively used on that course & not available in designer.Comment

Re: PGA Tour 2K25 Trailer, Release Date and Much More
My main concerns with what's been listed is the new introduction of some potential "play to win" mechanics and DLC.
Details are minimal at this point, but they have called out things like "equipment progression", "level up tokens", "Evo Tools", etc. in the pre-order bonuses. They also still use the term "cosmetic" when distinguishing a golf ball item, so I'd assume that means there will still be consumable balls as well.
Things like that are assumed to be in games these days, but I hope it doesn't go more into the pay to win side of things...
EDIT - the game is now up for pre-order on Steam, with a new screenshot included:
