How to tell where the powerband is?

I have read threads about adjusting the gearing saying how you want to keep the revs in the powerband. I cant tell where the powerband is. The cars seem to accelerare evenly until the revs hit the red. Can someone give me an idea of where the powerband on most cars is? Is it 4000 rpms? 5000?
    thanks

is there an easy way to find out where the powerband is for each car?

Look at the peak numbers for HP and Torque on each car. The powerband is in that area.
