I'm curious as to why it needs to be on the west coast?

Have you seen the amenities at the latest tracks? Look at Bahrain and Shanghai. Laguna is a LONG way from there. F1 wants more than just a great circuit, it expects damn near a town to be built along with it. Thats probably part of their problem. Gone are the days when Ken Tyrell built his cars in a shed in his backyard!

        Gurantsu:

Did you ever see the documentary on Sir Jackie Stewart in which the beginning and the end of the film consist of Uncle Ken and Jackie chewing the fat in Tyrrell's shed? The scenes were filmed shortly before Ken died. Pure magic. Almost shed a tear watching it.

Highly recommended. The documentary runs on Speed Channel from time to time.

        Take care,

PK, I'd love to see that sometime. If at some point you happen to know it will be on SPEED, could you let me know? Thanks.

Yes, I saw it, fantastic stuff. I couldn't beleive that his mother stayed angry at him for racing until the day he retired. And the part where is wife was getting a little choked up looking at her scrapbook pictures of Cevert was very moving. A very well done show, I think it was called "The Flying Scotsman".

Michelin to offer refund & more:

INDIANAPOLIS -- Tire manufacturer Michelin offered Tuesday to refund money to those who bought tickets for the U.S. Grand Prix, which was boycotted by seven Formula One teams after the company decided its tires were unsafe at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Michelin also said it would buy 20,000 tickets for the 2006 race to be given to those who attended the June 19 race during which only six of the typical 20 drivers participated.
Well, at least some of those people will be a little happier.
