MotoGP game series -- a few questions

I played the MotoGP 3 demo on an XBox demo disc tonight, and I have a few questions for you guys who know much about the series.

    1) I saw the MotoGP 4 PS2 preview on this site. What's up with that? Why is the Box just coming out with Part 3 while the PS2 is coming out with part 4? They are part of the same series, right?

    2) Does the game have much depth to it? The demo felt like it was holding my hand the entire time, and the AI drivers were pitiful. Does the full version have a full blown career mode? Is it a bit more "sim" (I found it nearly impossible to wreck my bike, no matter how poorly I drove)

I'm looking forward to picking up a MotoGP game, so any info is apopreciated.
    Thanks!

    Mal:

Itemized deductions, as I've played the hell out of MGP and MGP 2 on the Xbox:

No. Same name, different series. Namco developed most, if not all, of the MGP series for the PS2. THQ and Climax developed both MGP games for the Xbox. The almost universal consensus is that the THQ-Climax games for the Xbox are far superior to the Namco versions for the PS2.

Solid depth. The online play is amazing in MGP 2, and the season mode was fun. The addition of street tracks to MGP 3 will add depth.

I've heard that the demo plays at the easiest level. Trust me, when you ramped up the difficulty in MGP 2, that game was a beast. And yes, you could dump your bike from excessive wheelspin and sliding in corners.

I put MGP 2 in my top five racing games of all time, any console. It was that good, so I have really high hopes for MGP 3 for the Xbox. Fantastic online game, too.

Write if you need any more feedback!

    Take care,

If you think Moto GP is too easy then get Superbike 2001 for the pc. Not sure if you can still find it around, but its easily the best most realistic motorcycle game of all time. Some reviews called it the grand prix legends of motorbike racing.

Re: MotoGP game series -- a few questions

Actually, I have Superbike 2001. I bought it bundled with F1 2002 for something like $10 a couple of years ago at Wal-Mart. I installed it, tried like crazy to play it, but couldn't even drive a lap without wrecking. So I quit.

Seriously, that game was hard, plus I wasn't really into racers back then... except Re-Volt for PC. But now that I have an analog controller for the PC, I may have to reinstall it again and give it another go.

The MotoGP 3 demo felt awesome to me, I was just a little worried about the depth and sim features of the game. I was kinda on the fence on that one, but PK kinda pushed me, so I figure I'll get that one. I tried to find MotoGP 2, but that thing is selling for $50 used. Jeez...

Are there any updates/mods for Superbike 2001 that I should check out when I try it again?

Same here took me like 3 weeks before I could run 5 laps without wrecking then I gave up, but the graphics and the feel of the game is so good its hard to stay away.

As for mods there were a few. One updated it to the current season with new real bikes and skins and riders while another put in all the moto Gp bikes in that game into superbike.

I forgot where I found that site but when I look it up I'll post it. I came across it trying to find setups for the bikes and wanted to run a league with them.
