My problem with "CarPGs"
With regards to the Gran Turismo series and now the Sega GT series -- the current popular “CarPGs” -- I hate that the main premise of these games evolves around the concept of collecting and customizing cars moreso than just improving racing skill. But more importantly (for me at least), it's the constant process of being forced to race with bad cars on a limited selection of courses in order to unlock the good cars and courses as an attempt to extend the replay value of the game. Many people like doing these things over and over, but I don't. I much rather prefer to be able to select all the cars and all the courses, THEN be in position to decide for myself if the game is worth playing over and over. If the gameplay is good, then there should be no concern for racing/driving game developers to find ways to artificially extend the replay value of their game(s). At least that's how I see it. Now, all cars and/or tracks are not accessible from the start in the Dreamcast (and soon the PlayStation 2) version of F355 Challenge and Test Drive Le Mans. But for these instances I can accept the idea that the right to race on any unlocked courses have to be earned FIRST AND FOREMOST by improving racing skill. As long as a racing and driving games are conceptually set up this way, I would have no problems with the way that "CarPGs" are developed. Well this concludes my bogus rant of the day.

Re: My problem with \"CarPGs\"
I used to like GT, but got tired of it. too much b.s. to go through to get the cars I wanted etc. Got tired of racing the same courses over and over (with the same car) just so I could get some points. I really liked Project Gotham Racing though. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx
