Denny Hamlin drives/drove the #20 Gibbs Busch car.

I guess he will be driving the 11 next year so add him to that list.

Ok, not a fan of either but what about JJ? Yes he is a rookie, but do you follow sprint car or Usac racing? He has been the man to beat in the non wing sprints and midgets the last few yrs. Lets see, Tony came from usac, Kahne, won alot of races with the All stars. Then u have Jeff Gordan. I dont like him much, but I can rememember when he raced all of ohio every week back in the early 90's and late 80's. Yes jj will tear stuff up, but who doesnt. Jr has tor things up all yr. The only one who havent turn up to many cars are the ones in the top 5 in the chace.
I have always said that open wheel guys make the best drivers around. I am glad to c after all these yrs they get the nod.

P.S Ever get a chance go watch some sprint drivers on dirt. U will c why they r that good in Nascar!!!!!

I love USAC Midgets/Silver Crown and Sprints. I'm very familiar with Yeley. He won the triple crown which is a very rare accomplishment. Yes he has run strong the last few years but IMHO and it is just my opinion the Midget and Silver Crown class has not been the strongest it has been in years past. Yeley has succeeded in a thin field. I just do not see him winning in Cup he crashes way to often for my taste.

Only two drivers ever have won the USAC Triple Crown -- Tony Stewart in '95 and Yeley in 2003.

But Yeley isn't in Stewart's class. As the prior poster said, the USAC field is thinner these days than it was in the mid-90s, as USAC hadn't been discovered as a strip mine for talent for NASCAR. Gordon, Tim Richmond and Schrader were the only big-time USAC regulars who had made a successful, full-time transition to NASCAR at that point.

Plus Stewart showed ability in higher-powered cars right away, running to Rookie of the Year at Indy in 1996 and the IRL title in 1997. He was competitive almost right away in Busch and won races as a rookie in Cup.

Yeley has made Cup starts and shown little. Frankly, I was puzzled that he got the 18 ride. But J.D. Gibbs must see something that most of us don't.

          Take care,
