NASCAR 2005
I am not a huge fan of NASCAR but do like to play the videogames. I have NASCAR Thunder 2004 and like it but should I buy 2005 since I can get it pretty cheap? How different are the 2 games and is it worth the purchase? ThanksMy School's National Championships:

Re: NASCAR 2005
I enjoyed '05 a lot more than I did 06There is no place like Nebraska
Dear old Nebraska U.
Where the girls are the fairest,
The boys are the squarest,
Of any old school that I knew.
There is no place like Nebraska,
Where they're all true blue.
We'll all stick together,
In all kinds of weather,
For Dear old Nebraska U!
Won't change this signature until Nebraska wins the National Championship...posted 8/16/05 -

UNLV:
NASCAR 2005 is a HUGE upgrade over NASCAR Thunder 2004. And I mean huge, without a shred of hyperbole.
NASCAR 2005 was completely rebuilt, with a much better driving and racing model. It also offers online play. But most importantly, NASCAR 2005 was the first EA NASCAR game to offer racing in four classes -- Cup, Busch, Truck and modified. The Career mode is superb as you progress through those four series.
Like SportsAce said, I much preferred NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup over NASCAR 06: Total Team Control. The Total Team Control feature was a complete gimmick that was unrealistic as hell.
Buy NASCAR 2005 on the cheap, man. You won't regret it for a second, especially compared to the sh*tware that is NASCAR Thunder 2004. NASCAR 2005 is EA's best NASCAR console game, period.
Take care,

Re: NASCAR 2005
Glad I found this thread. I too was thinking of picking up Nascar 2005. And with PK's blessing on it, I will not hesitate. Watching it today made me want it more. Should I assume the Xbox version looks considerably better? I do not care much about online, unless there are updates or track downloads (don't have a Live acct but do have PS2 online). Mostly just care about career modes.Comment

Nascar 2005 is awesome. I just finished racing the Daytona 500 every lap of it. I should have won. I play on veteran level right now and I was Jeff Gordon and had that fastest car but I spun out driving into the pits at around lap 100 and I ended up a lap down and wasn't able to recover. Ended up finishing 22nd. I am racing the full length of every race and try to win the Cup and once I do it on veteran going to kick it up to legend and do the same thing.Comment

This game is that good that racing every lap is a pure joy for me. Finally figured out how to set my car up and usually I can find a good setup for whatever track now. I have tried it on other versions of Nascar and didn't enjoy it but this version is by far the best I have played. Best thing is I bought Nascar 2005: Chase for the Cup for 10 dollars in the bargain bin at Toys r Us.Last edited by AncientMariner1; 02-22-2006, 10:57 PM.Comment

Re: NASCAR 2005
Well I picked it up used at EB for $16 and change. Haven't taken the seal off yet though. i have to wait and see if my buyer remorse goes away. I know I know it's $16 bucks, and that is not alot. But I HATE to waste money, and I have plenty of games (barely cracked Forza open, still alot left in GT4) not to mention MLB 06 coming out next Wednesday. I just don't know. But in my head I want a good nascar game, and this one seems to have some good and reputable backers and reviews. I don't know.Comment
