I've just started the Pro Career mode (specifically, Open Wheel, and also Oval), and am enjoying it. I had been doing the World Tour mode, but felt it was a bit too disjointed in terms of learning cars' styles before being thrust into a totally different type.
Anyway, if I could get answers to the following questions, that would be great.
- 1) I notice that the specific race types have 3 Cups. For instance, I won the Ford Formula on default settings and have 1/3 Cups. What do I have to do to win the other 2 Cups within that same race type?
2) When qualifying, is there any way to see the times posted by the other racers? Currently, I just race three good laps and hope I place well, and I'm curious if there is a live scoreboard or perhaps option that can be enabled to see what the top qualifying times on a given track are, as they are reached.
3) Does the CPU ever crash, or bring up cautions? It seems I am generally the only one causing the yellow flag to come out, and I was wondering if the CPU cars ever crash or wreck also.
4) Along similiar lines.. Do CPU cars ever get cautioned or black flagged? I've had cars turn into me and spin me out, only to be notified that I also am being penalized for unsafe driving, etc. Even when I am the race leader and on the racing line.
5) Are all races short by default? So far, I haven't had to use pit stops yet, and it seems all the races I've been in so far have been defaulted to a length that is not long enough to warrant them.
6) What race length (laps) do you recommend for finding that balance between realism and timeliness? IE, pit stops come into play, but races don't take 2 hours to complete.
7) I asked this before, but can anyone provide some more tips regarding starting well on PS2? I gather I want to be in red, and then off just as the race starts, but in order to get into red on PS2 it seems that I have to over rev, and then spin the tires when the race begins.
I'm enjoying the game, and find the open wheel career to be the most fun so far. I love qualifying well so I don't have to spend the entire length of a short race trying to work my way up past 10th place.
Thanks in advance for any comments/answers.
