    Re: Nascar 2007

All good points, Kneebon. No company has made a NASCAR console game that can compare to their PC cousins.

I was one of the many people who rued the loss of the NASCAR Heat franchise for consoles. But on second thought, that series also had its share of problems, especially in Heat 2002, including:

-- Lousy licensing. Only about half the tracks and drivers were licensed.
-- Only one class. Cup, and that's it. I know there was more with Dirt to Daytona, which was a plus.
-- HORRIBLE caution AI. Sometimes a massive pile-up wouldn't cause a caution, and a simple tap would. Plus the game made you sit through every lap of the caution, even if you weren't going to pit.

Heat had a very good driving model and superb tuning model, which is the heart of any game. That's something EA needs to get right.

Both franchises were incomplete. Heat had the foundation but lacked the trimmings. EA's NASCAR has all the trimmings but needs work on the foundation.

If EA could return to NASCAR 2005 and clean up the issues you identified, it would be a damn good console NASCAR game. But I agree with you that the Total Team Control concept was utter garbage.

    Take care,
    PK

Simply put you can not beat N2003. I still use it and run in many online leagues. Although the rFactor community is doing a great job on catching up to N2003. Not to mention the many different road racing mods that are out for rFactor. IMHO for a sim and not a game rFactor and NetKar are the two best sims to have come out since GP Legends and N2003.
